ANVIL LIFE — THE BIG BALANCE UPDATE
Everything from v1.11.9 to v1.12.4

This is the largest update Anvil Life has had. The whole game was retuned from level 1 to 100 against a single rule, the forge was rebuilt around real risk, a full arcade was added, and three new languages came in. Here is what actually changes for you.

ONE RULE, LEVEL 1 TO 100

The entire difficulty curve was rebuilt and measured, not guessed. The rule it was tuned to: with ordinary +2 gear of a dungeon's own tier and a balanced point spread, entering at the dungeon's starting level costs you about two health potions per 60 seconds and you hold. At the dungeon's top level you hold with no potions at all and cut down roughly 50 enemies a minute. Everything between those two points is your choice.

YOU CAN ACTUALLY SURVIVE NOW

Combat gained a sustain layer. You regenerate health passively while fighting — a slow trickle that grows the better your armour cuts the dungeon's damage — and every kill gives a little health back, with bosses giving far more. That means two real ways to stay alive: stack armour and bleed damage slowly, or kill fast and heal off the bodies.

YOUR BUILD FINALLY MATTERS

Skill points now give a flat value AND a percentage, so where you put them still shows at level 100. Defence, attack and mana builds now play differently instead of converging into the same character. Attack speed from gear has diminishing returns, so a fast weapon is strong without breaking the game. Mana now drains per second rather than per swing — the old "mana vanishes instantly with a fast weapon" problem is gone.

BOSSES AND TIERS, FLATTENED

Every boss now follows the same rule instead of being a wall or a pushover: it dies in about 22 seconds at a dungeon's mid level, and it hits about twice as hard as a normal enemy. Fire boss burn is capped as a percentage of your maximum health, so it can no longer delete a large health pool. The four tiers — Nightmare, Abyssal, Infernal, Sovereign — are now a clean ladder, and the rewards climb that same ladder.

THE FORGE IS A REAL GAMBLE AGAIN

Upgrade odds were rewritten:

+1 to +5 — always succeeds, you only pay
+6 — 60 percent
+7 — 45 percent
+8 — 35 percent
+9 — 20 percent
+10 — 10 percent

The last step is no longer a formality. Pressing +9 into +10 now splits five ways: 10 percent it lands, 20 percent the piece is lost for good, 20 percent it burns but is recoverable, 25 percent it falls back to +8, and 25 percent nothing happens at all.

Below +9, a failed upgrade destroys the piece outright. The one exception is Mythic gear at +7 and +8, which survives destruction 45 percent of the time.

RECYCLING — YOUR BEST GEAR IS NEVER JUST GONE

A new Recycling bin catches your most valuable pieces. Any +9 or +10 item, and any Mythic at +7 or above, ends up there instead of vanishing — whether you died and could not buy it back, burned it at the anvil, sold it, shredded it, or ran its durability to zero. What you pull back out is completely intact, with nothing reduced. It costs a fortune in gold and dust, which is the point.

Two things are still gone for good, by design: whatever you lose at the trade table, and whatever the squire sells on your behalf.

THE ANVIL NOW TELLS YOU WHAT IT DID

The upgrade screen has a log of your last 20 attempts, colour coded at a glance — landed, fell back, burned but recovered, lost for good, held, or saved by a totem — with the resulting plus level on each line. Scroll it to look further back. The totem box was slimmed down and the upgrade button moved up, so the whole panel fits without hunting for it.

ECONOMY AND LEVELLING

Potion prices were softened considerably. Dungeon entry fees dropped by roughly a third, and mid-tier dungeons pay noticeably more gold. The late level curve was shortened — reaching 100 is now about 33 hours of running instead of an endurance test. Short-run spam no longer pays better than committing, because the hold bonus now scales with run length. Auto-potion defaults were raised to sensible values.

Gear also lasts 15 percent longer before needing repair.

THE GAME ROOM

A full arcade sits under the Casino heading: seven original mini-games — Block Rain, Serpent, Star Hunter, Ridge Runner, Wing, Brick Breaker and Anvil Pinball. Keyboard, mouse and touch all work. Scores turn into a small amount of gold, deliberately small — a good run is worth about six percent of a dungeon run at your level, and the payout tapers after the first few games each hour. This is a break, not an income. Your records are saved in your save code.

MATERIAL LOG

Every run now ends with a breakdown of exactly which materials dropped and how many, whether you held the line or died. Open the console and type gunluk for a full report of your last 20 runs — dungeon, tier, length, result, kills, gold, gear and materials.

THREE NEW LANGUAGES

The in-game guide is now available in Hindi, Arabic and Russian, on top of English, Turkish, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Hebrew, Japanese and Korean. That is twelve languages. Arabic and Hebrew render right to left.

SMOOTHER, QUIETER

The dungeon had stutters and micro-freezes. The drawing path was reworked — the skill strip was being rebuilt from scratch sixty times a second, unchanged values were being written to the screen every frame, and several full-screen blur effects were being recalculated over a moving scene. All of that is fixed. Typing in the console no longer freezes the game either.

GUIDE

The guide was expanded and corrected across every language, with new sections on balance and strategy, bosses and tiers, the game room, and the material log.

Thank you for playing, and for the reports — almost everything in this list came from someone saying it was wrong.
