Hi, Skye here! I'm the concept artist and marketing peep for Diets & Deities, our multicultural rhythm cooking game!
We actually got the idea for our gameplay from Everhood because I loved their rhythm battle style. Weaving between colourful notes and listening to really catchy beats was so much fun~ So I wanted our game to have the same unique audio-visual experience but with our own wholesome and cultural twist! Have you been playing anything recently that got you super inspired?
So...we put a demo on Itch?!
Yep! I’m so excited to announce that we have our very first demo up on Itch.io!🎉
If you’ve already played our game before (like at PAX or TROPiCON!), we’ve made quality-of-life improvements based on your amazing feedback!
So what’s new? Players can now move smoothly to the beat! Player input is not restricted but you’re incentivised to move in time with the beat to absorb echoes (collectible notes) without getting hit by the corruption spikes (avoidable notes).
After lots of play-testing with the team, we really feel like the player is more in sync with the tracks now! I’ve definitely had a lot of fun restarting levels to try and get that perfect no-hit run ;3
Wait, what’s happening with BETA testing? Everyone who previously signed up will be added to our new special Beta Tester role on Discord to message directly into our BETA channels! As we get feedback from this demo, we’ll be working closely with our playtesters and have a BETA released via Steam.
The demo is available for everyone, but if BETA testing is something you’re interested in, join the server and message me (@Skye)!
Here's what the game looked like at PAX vs now! The changes might seem subtle, but we worked really hard to improve the player experience~

Check it out here!
I'd love to chat and see what you liked about the demo, where we can improve, and most importantly...who is best girl in Diets & Deities?? 😳❤️ Oh but before I go...

Here's a word from Caipora, our fiery and feisty Brazillian deity🔥
Oi you, the Gammon Bros scolded me for not getting you a recipe earlier. So I burned their hair (or is it just leaves??) to a crisp, that might teach 'em... Anyway, whenever I'm feeling a little hot-headed, I always make this dish.
Enjoy,
Caipora❤️🔥
- Acai Bowl -
Ingredients:
20
- 200g (2 packets) frozen acai puree, broken into pieces
- 1 frozen banana, sliced
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- 1 cup milk (dairy, soy, oat, etc.) or coconut water
- Assorted toppings (optional): fresh sliced fruit, granola, coconut flakes, chia seeds, cacao nibs, etc.
Method:
Place all ingredients together in a blender
- and blend until smooth. Add more milk or coconut water when needed for desired consistency or texture.
- Assemble by dividing into bowls and adding desired toppings. Best enjoyed immediately.
Did you know you can unlock recipes after completing each level? Here's what it looks like in-game!

If you've never tried an acai bowl before I highly recommend it! I prefer it with coconut water personally~ Oh and it's also much cheaper to make it at home than if you buy it at a cafe ;p ($17 is theft!!)
That's it for now! Oh boy, it's gonna be Christmas soon...how did the year go by so fast (T▽T) ...anyways I'll be back soon and share any updates or changes from the first wave of demo players.
I hope you get to check out the demo sometime! Bye-bye~ ❤️
