Hello Everyone! I hope you are all having a fantastic Sunday so far!
So I will need to clear up a few things about The Clown's Forest 2: Waking Shadows to you all as I have been silently doing edits to the page behind the scenes. So what gives?
Well, I will explain everything.
On Saturday 13th May, I told some of my close friends I was struggling with a hard choice. I wasn't happy with the initial direction of The Clown's Forest 2, but I couldn't fix the current version as it would have taken longer to fix it than making the game from scratch. My biggest issue with it was that it was a step back from the first game. There were no puzzles, barely any chases, and overall the quality of the level design was more or less lacking.
So ultimately my choice was "Continue on and make a product that no one would enjoy" or "Scrap all the progress on the game so far, and start the game from scratch" I chose the 2nd option.
The Clown's Forest 2: Waking Shadows officially restarted development from scratch on Sunday 14th May. With a brand new approach I am dropping multiple campaigns, I cut out one of the playable characters, and focusing more on the Puzzles, Exploration, and even a new "Duo" Mechanic, where you can boost your Companion to higher ledges to look for items, or swap character when split up.
So far, I have been enjoying this version of the game, unfortunately this does mean the game is delayed into 2024. I ain't gonna give an estimated release window other than "Next Year" doing this allows me to perfect the game, allow my voice actors to take their time, and allow my composer to work on the music in his own time without the worry of rushing.
I hope this clears up the confusion if any on why the Release Date says 2024 instead of 2023, why screenshots looked different, and why the description of the game page was also changed.
I am excited to show off more about this version of the project, but for now, everyone will have to be patient with what I have cooking up!
