We need to talk about PvE

💥 Hello Rebels!

It’s been about two weeks since we released our second content patch – this time with a Halloween theme!
The update featured a night version of our popular map Nausta as well as a terrifying Zombie Powerspike. Some of you might also have run into our creepy girl wandering the map, eager to make her presence known… 👀

In addition to that, we added some other goodies – a new rifle and several smaller fixes and improvements. Overall, the reception was positive, but right now we’re seeing very few active players, despite ongoing marketing efforts to reach new ones. So, what’s going on?

🎮 What’s happening?

Well, first of all, two massive and really great games launched in October. We’ve played them ourselves during our free time (and we’re definitely inspired by them – hats off to their devs!). As a Swedish studio, we’re proud to be part of such a strong gaming community here. But it’s clear that the release of those two titles caused our small but loyal player base to drop off quite a bit.

The main issue we face right now with Striden is that new players buy the game, install it with excitement… and then realize there aren’t enough players online, except for a few hours in the evening.

🧠 What we’re doing about it

We need to take some serious steps here. Our focus now is on improving the experience for solo players who just bought Striden.

That’s why we’re currently designing a brand-new PvE mode – something far more engaging than the current COOP prototype we offer.

Of course, we’ll keep polishing the PvP experience alongside the PvE development, we want to be crystal clear about that. But seeing the player numbers drop again is disheartening, and we’re doing everything we can to change that.

We truly believe that if we can deliver a fun and dynamic PvE experience, it will help keep more players active in the game — and make it easier to find PvP matches when that competitive urge kicks in.

💡 We want your ideas!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on what you want to see in a PvE mode.

⚙️ What’s next?

We’re currently planning to release a smaller content patch at the end of November, which will hopefully include our new matchmaking system.
This means we’ll be retiring the server browser, making it easier for players to find each other and jump into Striden together.

We’re also working on a new kill screen, showing more detailed info about who killed you, with what weapon, and how – plus, it looks a lot better visually.

We’ve reworked the Airdrop capture radius too instead of a glowing wall, it’s now a projected decal on the ground, so you’re no longer blocked by a giant colorful barrier when capturing an airdrop.

And finally, we’ve integrated radiation into our weather system, which drastically changes matches on Transmit. Forget just two radiation storms per match – now they appear more often and much more dynamically.

🗣️ The takeaway

Please keep playing Striden whenever you feel the urge — and join our Discord community!
While you’re there, let us know what kind of PvE mode you would love to see.
Now’s your chance to help shape the future of the game.

See you on the battlefield, Rebels. 💪
