In Genimas: Life Reborn, art is a core part of both the narrative and gameplay systems. For this reason, we have evolved the visual design of the main character, focusing on two key pillars: facial expressiveness and the visual readability of body genetics.
The facial morphology moves toward a more anime-inspired style, allowing emotions to be conveyed more clearly and consistently throughout the character’s journey. This change strengthens the player’s emotional connection and supports the game’s narrative moments.
From a technical and artistic standpoint, the character continues to use stylized hand-painted PBR textures, combining physically based lighting with a carefully crafted artistic finish. This approach ensures proper integration with the game’s lighting systems, especially in low-visibility scenarios such as nighttime or cave environments.
In addition, the visual appearance of the body has been updated when specific genetics are activated within the body chromosome, clearly representing the adaptations required to survive environmental exposure without taking damage. These adaptations apply to biomes such as forest, desert, ice, and fire, and are directly reflected in the character’s physical appearance, reinforcing the internal logic of the world.
This visual evolution goes beyond aesthetics. It communicates gameplay information, strengthens the narrative, and brings the project closer to its final art direction, marking an important step in building a coherent, living world in Genimas: Life Reborn.
