Hello Giants!
Summer is here as well as our second Milestone! Localization in German, French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, new challenge options and more content for the Ocean biome… We can’t wait for you to dive into these new additions!
We are also overjoyed to be part of Tacticon this year, among many great strategy games! The game will be on sale (20% off), and I am doing a dev talk about God Games and Reus 2, more info on the TactiCon Steam page.
The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system, this you probably already know, but did you know that over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands are part of this system? It is also visible from space! According to a study in October 2012, the reef has lost more than half its coral cover since 1985, and this number only grows as coral bleaching has not yet been quantified!

Let’s deep dive into the new content of the update (and as usual you can find the detailed Patch Notes at the end of this Steam News)!
New Localization
We’re adding 4 new languages! From now on, you can play Reus 2 in German, French, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish! As these translations are freshly baked, we want to warn you about a few texts and interface descriptions are unperfect and will need to be improved. We'll be working on them in the coming days to make it perfect! Feel free to share your feedback on the languages in the dedicated channels in our Discord or in the Steam Discussions!

New Options, Giant Trial
Originally, we wanted to create a challenge editor, but that proved too challenging (heh) for the time we had. Instead, we created some new options for you to play with, and the Giant Trial, which sets the game to a more roguelite experience.
- No Free Rerolls: You will start with 2 rerolls, but won’t gain any extra free rerolls. Are you creative enough to make builds on the spot?
- Max Drafts per Biome: Change the maximum drafts per biome to 4 or 5, forcing you to really think about what build you want to create. Can you craft the best builds out of all possibilities?
- Titan Trial: This sets the game to Challenge, Max Drafts 4, No Free Rerolls & Horizon Draft, and the difficulty to at least “Giant”. A true challenge of creativity and knowledge of Reus 2, where you will have to make tough decisions and can’t have it all. Are you up for the challenge of your new planet?
The game will be balanced around these settings, although you’re always welcome to make beautiful or busted planets with 12 Forest Drafts!
Bonus Ocean content Update
For the Great Barrier Reef update, we got some nice new Ocean Biotica for you to play with! The Ocean was a bit too lacking for our taste, so we decided to give some new options for free. Another major change is that Create Creek now also creates a Stream under water, and Sanctuary also works in the Ocean!
Tier 3 Apex:
- Reef Shark
- Bottlenose Dolphin
- Dugong
- Christmas Tree Coral
- Shipwreck
- Crab Gathering Spot
New Cohorts:
- Parrotfish
- Clubhook Squid
- False Trumpet Grounds
- Turtle Grass
- Finger Coral
Other changes
We also made a number of smaller changes and requested fixes. You can see all the changes in the log below!
Let your strategy speak for you and enjoy both the Update and TactiCon!
See you soon!
