Hello, dear inhabitants of this Gloomy Juncture,
📢 Demo v0.8.0 is out!
For anyone who tried the previous public demo, there are some small changes overall, but the biggest overhauls are:
- The way you turn the TV On (?)
- Improvements to how the story is delivered (including the pincode puzzle interactions). Don't worry, I'm not turning Gloomy Juncture into a linear movie, but there might be some subtle diegetic motifs, feedback, and visuals to fuel your thoughts.
- An update to the Power Puzzle *
- The office has many changes:
- The Dragon Dungeon remains similar, with something extra when you beat it (will be completely overhauled for the full launch to better fit the narrative)
- A completely new puzzle, with new mechanics... (?)
- All of this is also available in Japanese and Simplified Chinese
* I had initially planned to replace the Power Puzzle with a new one. I fear having the electricity puzzle as the potential "first one" could give the wrong impression of the rest of the game. I mean, players might expect every puzzle to be an up-close "minigame" like that one, which isn't the case. In the end, the new version felt off in terms of satisfaction (gut feeling is a bitch), so I went back to the original and blended in a few elements of the new one.
Indie Arena Booth EU Showcase, Polaris 2026
I wasn't planning to release a new demo update around this time, but the travel grant to Hamburg changed my mind and made me dedicate the past month and a half exclusively to this demo. This means I wasn't able to create everything I envision for the final release; but it's a step closer.
Anyway, this is the demo I'll be showcasing/playtesting at the Indie Arena Booth during Polaris 2026 in Hamburg. If you happen to be around, come say hi:
- Friday, October 9: 12 PM – 8 PM
- Saturday, October 10: 10 AM – 8 PM
- Sunday, October 11: 10 AM – 6 PM

Note: the game received a USK 18+ rating in Germany (don't ask me), so the screen can't face visitors and I'll be hidden away in a dark corner like a pervert (that I'm totally not). I'll also have to check the age of anyone who wants to play... please don't lie to me, because I'm very gullible.
But if you can't make it, all you need is your PC. Just make sure you're 18+ before playing, please.
