It's been an amazing/wild first couple days of DSX launching on Steam. There are important things to talk about that can't be ignored like the now playing status, controller not working in games etc..
Now Playing Status
I understand people's frustration with their steam profile showing "Playing DSX" when they don't want it to be shown or visible since this is a software app after all.
Steam API
The use of the Steam API for Workshop, Achievements, and Leaderboards has caused an issue with games not being able to recognize the controller anymore. The issue is on Steam's side since somehow it's choosing DSX for steam input even though it could be disabled. Not really sure where the fault is.
Solution:
DSX will have a launcher that would open the app, after about 10 seconds, DSX Now playing status is gone.
Even though Workshop, Achievements, and leaderboards will no longer be available, there are many benefits to this solution after doing some tests:
- No more "Playing DSX" Status
- Users will no longer have to disable Steam Input or Overlay in DSX Properties
- (Most important) No more issues with games where input would just stop working
- Less ram usage since less UI components
It's unfortunate to see them go, since I spent a lot of time implementing and working on these API features :(
When will this update come out?
It will take a few days to fully remove most of the api, UI components, and the code from within the app.
When it's ready it will be released ASAP.
