We are working on new features all the time, but some might not be finished in the way we want for the release. So today we'll discuss what we want to add, how we wished it would look and how it probably will actually look in the release in 3 days.
Major features:
Temperature mechanics:
We decided that a temperature mechanic would be a good way of making sure people build a small home or at least torches in their camp.
The System that we wanted for temperature was that in the first night the Player would notice their screen turning sligthly blue, but they'd survive till next morning now knowing definitely that you can die of Hypothermia and that while in a sealed room heat is stored, meaning a sealed room could theoretically still fall to deadly temperatures but in reality would store enough heat over the day to keep Players alive in the night.
Those dreams might have been a bit too ambitious for the short time we had, after spending several weeks developing a mechanic to detect if a room is sealed, we still have to develop a mechanic of storing heat, but as we already had problems tweaking the values for normal freezing, we decided that setting a room to a certain temperature, although not realistic would have to do for now.
Breaking Structures:
Thinking ahead to the Better together Update, we realized having structures but no way to destroy them will definitely lead to players being trapped in an unbreakable room.
Thus we decided to add a System to break structures when they are already finished, with the goal in mind that when you use the right tool you get some resouces back.
This might actually still be implemented as it isn't too hard to implement but we currently focus on other things, if not it will be added in a later minor Update.
Minor features:
Ligthing:
We focused on retouching the colors of the game, making everything a bit more vibrant and distinct, but we still have a lot to tweak, as for example shadows are too dark.
Sound:
Most Important actions have sounds but some sounds have to be changed (e.g. the sound of hitting a stone harvestable with a hammer) and some still have to be added (e.g. hitting an item with a tool, taking out items of a structure, kindling a flame and some others).
