Focusing more on the new enemies introduced and setting fixes along with some quality of life fixes.
New Content
In an attempt to prevent the game from feeling tedious in the later stages I've increased the number of enemies introduced in each section to a minimum of three. Two enemies have been introduced to clouds along with one new enemy for the castle.
I've also added five more levels to each stage to increase playtime and to properly spread out the introduction of each new enemy.
While the plan is to increase the number of enemies to four per section and create an entirely new map in between the Castle Garden and Castle interior this is just a minor taste of what should be coming hopefully in the other half of the July content update.
Additions to Settings & Bug Fixes
To prevent any weird resolution-based glitches I've set up three different basic resolutions to choose from (1920x1080, 1600x900, 1080x720). The goal wasn't to completely force these three resolutions so I've added a fullscreen button that is more flexible to native monitor sizes but there may be more issues if played on an uncommon size.
Some of the more problematic bugs have also been patched out to improve quality for the player.
The main ones fixed are:
- Enemies chasing while in H-Scene,
- Certain audios not playing at the correct time or at all,
- Map theme not being stopped while entering a boss stage,
- Boss theme either not starting or playing over map theme,
- Wrong theme playing while in Game Over/Boss specific H-Scene,
- Enemies losing collision after quickly exiting H-Scene or while exiting stun animation,
- Wizard enemy being frozen mid-air if the left arrow key is held (Honestly I still have no idea why),
- Many minor bugs not worth mentioning.
Future Planning
Some of the more high-priority changes/content that I would like to be implemented are the previously mentioned four enemies per stage and an entire new stage that is currently in development. While it's still in the planning phase and is likely to change somehow, the overall theme is some sort of crypts/dungeon that would be either before or after the Castle.
Another key thing that I would like to implement quickly would be some sort of key mapping for basic actions. Just something to make the game more comfortable for every type of player instead of forcing everything to be played on the right side of the keyboard. This will likely be merged into the settings scene under the resolutions section.
Finally, I'd like to hopefully implement some sort of gallery to showcase the attacks, movement, and H-scene of every enemy previously encountered. It will be a new tab next to settings on the main menu and move to another storybook-like scene to fit the theme of the game.
Once again if you encounter anything that seems wrong or if you have any suggestions you would like implemented please feel free to let me know through the discussions page on the community hub.
