Rubbish Dump #8: Healing The World

Hello Our Garbage People!

This Is Charlie, your friendly creative director for this rubbish game! Recently I’ve been working on the flora for the different biomes that are going to be in Trash. I’ve been working hard on making each plant unique, yet consistent with each biome.

It has been a challenge for sure, but the beauty of Trash is in its… well… Trash! I’ve found the key has been first making the silhouette for each plant, then finding out what recognisable object might fit into it.

These are examples from the new Valley Biome, moving from its “dead” state to its “alive state”. This means that all flora has to have both states built into it. Usually this consists of removing the resin parts of the plant and having the object lying on the ground, then transitioning into the alive state.

One day we hope to have these transitions wonderfully animated and trigger the transition with player proximity! This would make the player feel like it was having a direct impact on transition and (hopefully) be a wonderful and rewarding bit of gameplay!

I hope you enjoyed my garbage talk, watch this space for more updates from the rest of the team at Bin Chicken as we continue to work on “Trash” and bring our vision to life!
