Welcome to Gliese 436 B pilot!
Gliese 436 B is a frozen ice world where cryovolcanoes spew ammonia ice into space from subsurface oceans. In orbit the ice collects into an immense and beautiful ring around the planet. Take in the view but don’t let its beauty fool you, this is a dangerous region of space! As a space pod pilot you must avoid impacting the ice rings and steer clear of collisions with the many space stations in orbit.
Descent Vector Dev Update #2
Descent Vector is moving forward and this update features a new mission location and environmental art.
Environment Art
The previous update covered the lava world (Kepler 10-B) mission with a fiery planet, iron rich asteroids, and a predominantly red colour palette. The new frozen Gliese 436 B mission is complete and with it comes changes to add variety into the mission levels.
The dark iron-rich asteroid models see an update to solid frozen chunks of ice. These are not soft snowballs and Impacting one with your space pod is equally as fatal!
Overall lighting also sees a shift with more blue hues and the introduction of a cool frosty colour palette.
What's Next?
Two new environments are in development and waiting on final finishing touches. One features a fractured moon on orbit of a larger planet, while the other mission centres around a massive gas giant. More details on those missions in the next update!
Descent Vector will be releasing Summer 2021.
