Update v0.8.26 is LIVE!

Riders, get ready! This update is all about making conditions stand out. Each condition now feels unique, with tweaks to visuals, physics, and gameplay to keep things fresh. Given these changes, we’ve also split leaderboards and personal track times by condition for a more competitive and fair experience. On top of that, we’ve improved puddles, materials, and performance for a smoother, more detailed ride. Here's what’s new on the trails!

Release Notes:

🕹️ Enhancements

  • Water Puddles: More puddles can now be found in appropriate areas based on conditions, with some puddles even turning into ice in colder environments. The puddle material has been improved for better visuals, making them more natural and immersive.
  • Greater Differences Between Conditions: Each condition now has more distinct gameplay differences, including ideal lines, physics tweaks, and updated visuals.
  • Improved Grass Rendering: Grass have been enhanced with better shading and tweaked materials for more realistic environments.
  • Free Play Leaderboards Track Times Split by Conditions: Leaderboards (and personal best times) now track and display times based on the selected condition. Don't worry- your current times are preserved under the Day condition.
  • LOD Tweaks: Reduced pop-in effects and adjusted level-of-detail (LOD) settings to improve visual consistency and detail at different distances.
  • Materials Improvements & Optimizations: Numerous materials have been improved to enhance visuals while optimizing performance.
  • Graphics Settings Presets: Graphics presets have been adjusted for better balance between performance and quality.
  • Jump Button Hold Time: The time required to hold the jump button for maximum jumping power has been reduced, making jumps faster and more responsive.
  • Dynamic Controls Info Screen: Info screen featuring motion controllers bindings now shows bindings for currently used motion controllers.

🛠️ Fixes

  • Disappearing Water Puddles: An issue where puddles would vanish when viewed from certain angles has been resolved.
  • Challenge Tracks Culling Fix: Fixed an issue with the culling distance in some challenge tracks, resulting in better performance and smoother gameplay.
  • HP Mixed Reality Menu Button Binding: The menu button on HP Mixed Reality controllers was previously also bound to the SteamVR Dashboard, making it impossible to access the in-game menu. The default binding has now been changed to the "Y" button, resolving the issue.

Thanks for riding with us! With these updates to conditions, leaderboards, and others, we’re excited to see how you tackle the trails. Keep exploring, setting records, and sharing your feedback, it helps us make DownhillVR even better.
