Colonize — v1.2.0 Update: Squanto’s Guidance, Smart Buildings & Major Fixes

Colonize — v1.2.0

What's New

  • Squanto now reacts to what is actually happening in your colony with over 40 situational hints — starving citizens, homeless adults, idle production, empty input, full output, dry or frozen fields, empty animal pens, approaching winter and more. Hints can be turned off or reset from Settings.

  • New languages! - Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, , Finnish, Greek, Spanish (Latin America), Dutch, Indonesian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Swedish, Thai, Vietnamese, Hungarian, Ukrainian

  • Buildings show status icons above them when something is wrong: no worker assigned, empty input, full output, no animals in the pen, no crops in the field, no well nearby, or freezing inside. Each icon has a tooltip explaining the problem, and the icons scale with camera zoom.

  • Citizens and fields show live status icons too — hungry, exhausted, being paid, and fields currently being watered or rained on.

  • Language can now be changed while playing from the in-game settings menu, and the language selector is a proper scrollable dropdown with added font support for Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Thai characters.

  • Citizens who visit a grave in a churchyard now leave a coin behind.

Bug Fixes

  • The slaughter limit you set on pig, cow, sheep and chicken farms is now saved and restored with your colony.

  • Roads that were part of the map from the start now save and load correctly and can be demolished like any road you built yourself.

  • Clicking the minimap now respects the actual map borders instead of a fixed area, so the camera no longer jumps out of bounds on larger maps.

  • Loading a save where a family member had already died no longer breaks the rest of that family's data.

  • Citizens no longer get stuck standing outside their home, the inn or a social spot — arrival is now checked along their walking path.

  • Priests claim a free grave within a few seconds instead of waiting up to a full in-game hour, and graves stay linked to their church.

Improvements

  • Work experience has been removed — a worker's speed no longer depends on hidden experience points, so newly assigned citizens are no longer useless at their job.

  • Citizens age noticeably slower, and every colonist is now born with their own natural lifespan of roughly 60 to 88 years instead of a shared health curve.

  • Hunger and energy drain twice as slowly once a citizen drops below 15, giving you more time to react before someone collapses.

  • Couples who can no longer have children move out of family houses into shelters, freeing the house for a young family — and orphans left in that house are adopted by the couple moving in.

  • Citizens walk much further to eat and socialize, and when nobody can eat you now get a notification explaining why: the inn is too far, full, or closed.

  • New notifications for a citizen freezing at home and for the arrival of an immigrant group, both clickable to jump straight to the person.

  • The population statistics window was rebuilt around a recycled row list — it opens instantly and scrolls smoothly even in a large colony.

  • Tooltips now appear the moment you hover instead of after a delay.

  • Revised and expanded translations across the interface, mood texts and gravestone epitaphs.
