Hello everyone!
First of all, I want to apologize for the long wait.
I know, the game was announced back in 2021, together with a demo, followed by another updated demo in 2023... and after that, complete silence.
Unfortunately, life got in the way quite a lot. I managed to release some small games here and there. A visual novel called 42 Hallows Street and a small game called Gut Punch, both made for game jams, and I kept working on The Lady Puppet as well. Just... veeeery slowly.
But I want to assure everyone that the game is still being worked on!
And, after such a long silence, I thought it was about time to show you some of the progress I've made.
Two out of three acts are playable from beginning to end!
First of all, two out of the game's three acts are now playable from beginning to end in my current development build.
This is, of course, not a new public demo. There's still a lot of work to do before these sections are ready to be released. They still need plenty of polish, bug fixing, reworking and additional content.
But those are playable and "set in stone".
And if everything goes well, I dare say that by the end of this year, I should have the entire game playable from start to credits.
After that, development should become much more straightforward: polishing what's already there, fixing what's broken, adding the remaining content and putting the final touches on everything.
Performance improvements
I've also spent quite a lot of time improving the game's overall performance.
The codebase has been heavily improved, and the game now runs much more smoothly than it did before.
This also allowed me to implement some very cool improvements, especially when it comes to the companions' AI.
As you progress through the game and unlock new abilities, your companions can now do much more for you, from defending you from enemies to setting up traps around the map.
Some visual improvements
Along the way, I also reworked the HUD and some of the character portraits, among other things.
Nothing that completely changes the game, but I think these little improvements make The Lady Puppet look quite a bit better than it did before.
Enough blabbering.
I should probably show you some screenshots!
Thank you to everyone who has been waiting, following the game, or simply wondering whether it was still alive.
It is!
And I'm still working on it. :)
