Greetings Chipsters!
We don't have as many changes due to it only being a week since the previous test, but we did get some things done.
The largest change is to how player data is saved. Previously, player save data was saved to the server. It worked fine, but the issue is that players would not be able to carry over their save data if they wanted to switch servers. We made changes so that player data is now saved to a database which can be accessed by any server, thus allowing players to hop between servers while retaining their progress. This change has reset everyone's progress in the beta, but all progress will be reset again on May 4th once the game is fully released, so it isn't anything to worry about.
Here's a list of what's changed over the past week:
- New Stuff
- Player save data is now stored in a database instead of the server
- Team colors can now be selected by the host in custom games
- Explosions (bombs / rockets) now check line of sight on impact, so you can avoid damage by hiding behind things
- Added some new daily challenges for specific weapon kills (blaster, sniper, rockets, bombs)
- A short description has been added to the beginning of the match describing the main goal of the game type
- Changes
- Collision has been added to the Sniper weapon, so it can no longer shoot through obstacles
- Rockets are now synced over the network better
- Objects and effects have been added to the Wonderland map
- Crosshairs have been updated with a dark outline to make it easier to keep track of in bright areas of the screen
- Fixes
- Fixed a bug causing you to join multiple matches at the same time (thanks mystrert!)
If you run in to any issues, please let us know on our Discord server. This test will run until Monday, April 19th at 12AM PST.
Have fun!
