In recent devlogs, we've shared some pieces of Lost Isle's endgame content, like Underworld encounters and monuments. These areas are primarily PVE-focused, where you'll have to avoid traps, kill NPC enemies, and solve puzzles for access to the most valuable loot chests available in the game.
You'll run into other players on your server in these areas, and if they're hostile, it'll quickly turn into a winner-takes-all PVP session. The endgame mechanics we'll be discussing in this post, however, have one purpose and one purpose only: PVP.
Anyone who has played multiplayer PVP survival games knows there's no sweeter victory in all of gaming than successfully raiding another player's carefully designed and fortified base, gaining access to their storage chests, and plundering everything they've spent hours - sometimes days - collecting. And on the other hand, there's no more crushing defeat than coming back home to find your base has been raided and everything you've worked for is lost. As the old saying goes, "live by the sword, die by the sword"; or in the case of Lost Isle, "live by the grimoire, die by the grimoire".

Grimoires
Grimoires are tomes filled with immense dark power, allowing the user to conjure powerful spells to destroy unfriendly player bases. They are lootable in their usable completed form from ornate chests, but are also craftable via the reliquary arcana research tree once you've gathered the required resources and components.
Grimoires are by far the most base-destructive items in the game, so while it's possible to break through a wall and gain access to someone's base by chipping away at it for hours with hundreds of stone axes - and someone is definitely going to do that for the memes - the quickest (and most visually satisfying) way to break in is absolutely by using these magic books.
Below is a brief overview of the four variations currently available.
Grimoire of Destruction
Places a magic bomb on a target structure, exploding in a large area after a short delay.

Grimoire of Decay
Places a corrupt magic seed on a structure, growing over time and accelerating decay.

Grimoire of Immolation
Ignites a target structure, dealing increasing damage over time.

Grimoire of Legions
Fires a series of destructive magic missiles at a target structure

We can’t wait to see how you will start base raiding in our upcoming playtest, beginning on September 5th at 1 PM ET and running for 48 hours straight, which you can access by downloading the Lost Isle Demo on Steam!
