Development Update – Mythic Zombies
Hey everyone, we're back!
First of all, we want to apologise for how long it's been since our last update. We've been working hard behind the scenes, and we're finally at a point where we can start sharing what we've been building.
So, what's happening?
Mythic Zombies is currently undergoing a complete rebuild from the ground up. This isn't just a small update—it's a complete overhaul focused on more content, better performance, improved visuals, and redesigned maps.
We've taken everything we learned from the previous version and are using it to create a much better experience.
Three huge gameplay changes
1. Round Upgrades
Every time you complete a round, you'll be presented with three upgrades and can choose one to add to your build.
These upgrades stay with you for the entire run, allowing every game to evolve differently depending on the choices you make.
2. Ascension Points
For every round you survive, you'll earn 1 Ascension Point.
These points can be spent on upgrades that you choose—not random rewards.
Increase your damage, reload speed, movement speed, jump height, critical hit chance, survivability, and much more. The longer you survive, the stronger your character becomes.
3. Persistent XP Progression
Unlike your round upgrades and Ascension Points, your XP level never resets.
Every game you play contributes towards unlocking new maps, content, and future progression systems.
We wanted every match to feel rewarding while also ensuring players naturally progress through the game instead of jumping straight into the most difficult maps.
Built on Unreal Engine 5.7
The entire game is now being rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5.7, allowing us to take advantage of the latest technology Unreal has to offer.
This means:
Better graphics
Better performance
Faster loading
Improved lighting
More detailed environments
A smoother overall experience
Performance has become one of our biggest priorities.
Our goal is for Mythic Zombies to run smoothly on a mid-range laptop without a dedicated graphics card, without relying on upscaling technologies. We want as many people as possible to enjoy the game, regardless of whether they own a high-end gaming PC.
A More Dynamic World
The world itself is becoming far more interactive.
You'll be able to destroy walls by shooting them, opening new routes and changing how you approach each round.
Our maps are also being designed to show the scars of your survival. Bullet impacts, destruction, and the aftermath of fighting through wave after wave of zombies will make each run feel like you've truly battled to stay alive.
This is just the beginning...
There's still so much we haven't shown yet.
Over the coming months we'll be revealing new gameplay systems, weapons, enemies, maps, progression features, and much more.
This rebuild is by far the biggest step Mythic Zombies has ever taken, and we're incredibly excited to finally start sharing it with you.
Thank you for sticking with us. Your support means everything, and we can't wait to show you what's coming next.
See you in the next update... the zombies are waiting.
