Hi, everyone. Welcome to another week's developer's diary!
I am in the middle of some Mooncake Festival social events. So, let's get straight to this week's content.
Previously, we reached Chapter 4, and you got a lot of the Council's Decima as rewards.
So, where to spend them? Let's address this.
Now, in the Sunken Library, there are two new characters.
A Council Diplomat and a Council Quartermaster. They are like vendors you can spend the Council's Decima on. However, as we know, the Council's power lies greatly in politics and diplomacy; the goods you can get here are a bit different.
You can use Decima to manipulate your relationship with various factions you have encountered during your adventure. The council is very good at PR, unlike some folks we will find later in this diary.
If you have not encountered any of them, then the diplomat will encourage you to be a bit more social.
Kicking doors, committing war crimes, and doing some genocide can solve a lot of problems. But sometimes, you don't need to.
On the other side of the room, the Quartermaster is more like a traditional vendor. But the Council has its own arsenal.
The list is still expanding. But here's a quick rundown of some of the things you haven't seen before.
The Gilded Ordinances now have full data to be either your friend or foe. You can get them to join your group if you have enough Decima.
The Council Diplomacy Training Manual is a skill book to improve your speech skills. It's even better than the Illuminati's version.
The Council Tactical Night Vision is another echo from our SAPC++ era. The gear has returned.
You can equip it in either your head slot or the accessory slot, or both if you find that funny.
But why?
Because the darkness is coming!
"Dark" is now a battlefield environment type you may find in some dark locations. Without proper equipment or spells, characters can suffer a -50% accuracy debuff in those environments. Some creatures, such as bats, rats, and the undead, are naturally immune to this. But baseline humans need something to counter it. In Chapter 4, as the Black Signal has been unleashed on the world, you may find some places that dynamically turn into "Dark" as a new challenge to conquer.
What also happened this week is the Turko-Paradox war!
And I stand with Turkey on this!
Yes, I am fighting a war on the side of Turkey again (previously I had some Turkish colleagues at work and some online friends with whom I raided dungeons together.) And the enemy is a game that I am on its credit. Indeed, we are living in an interesting time.
Short version: A Turkish player on the HOI4 Discord server got banned simply for using Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as his profile portrait. It's almost just like an American getting banned on a game server simply for putting an American flag on their profile.
They say it's because Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is controversial. What kind of Hearts of Irony is this? HOI4 by itself is controversial. You can't just allow your version of controversial and not let people have their "controversial" views. In NEOLITHIA, I give players all kinds of freedom; they can choose, even some of them I do not agree with in real life. The core is that we are living in an imperfect world; the strong will carve their own path to make it more to their desire, while the weak will scream "propaganda" and rage-quit.
If you dig deeper, you will then find the "controversy" they are accusing is that Mustafa was involved in the 1915 Armenian Genocide. Now that's fake news!
For God's sake, any well-educated person knows that at that time Mustafa was basically on the other side of the map, busy fighting Australians and their kangaroos! He was in Gallipoli! Sure, in HOI4 you can teleport your generals all over the map, but that does not work in real life. I'd expect Paradox employees to be more educated than this. But, you know what? It does not matter; the most educated people are working on developing the game. They are currently busy making some focus trees in Central America for places like Honduras for the upcoming US rework DLC. Who fucked things up is a so-called "Community Manager" (again!)
Sure, there are good community managers out there. But we also get more and more of those terrible Woke virus-infected "community managers" all over the place in recent years. A normal community manager communicates; they do manage- that's their fucking job! But a Woke community manager just goes there and bans people; they censor people for all kinds of reasons they can make up.
Yes, essentially, this is censorship. Can you imagine how fucked up Sweden, a nation that once banned censorship in its constitution, has become nowadays?
All freedom-loving people don't like censorship. So let's go support Turkey!
Current situation: We are here. The Poles are here. The Austro-Hungarians are here. The Russians are here! People are putting aside their differences to support Turkey! Can you imagine it? All Paradox games are getting review-bombed like never before! And I deem this justice!
This is a war on censorship!
This is a war on Wokism!
And I salute the Turkish people's unity and devotion. I respect people with faith, even when that faith differs from mine.
Thus, Mustafa's portraits have been added to the game. There are not just one, but two versions!
Any vendors who sell the Flag of Türkiye now also sell those portraits as furniture items.
Feel free to use them in the game as you see fit. Everyone is also welcome to use the Mustafa portraits on my Discord server and the game's Discord server!
