Starting with the gameplay changes:
- Disconnected buildings no longer take damage, instead, they stop working until they are connected again. Suggestion by Marian from our discord server.
- Increased the game difficulty a little bit, reason explained in the bugfixes.
And that's it. More gameplay changes and content is planned for Wednesday's update, but today, we're focusing on bugs and performance.
And speaking of bugs:
- Quickbuild can no longer build over unbuildable/unrevealed terrain.
- Structures are now properly shown in screenshot mode (F2).
- Structures can no longer be destroyed multiple times. This was affecting both difficulty and on-death effects like "Out With a Bang". This is mostly the reason why I had to tweak difficulty, as it was causing difficulty to go up unnaturally and removing it reversed the effect.
For performance, we have:
- Reduced the number of rocks a building generates when hit and destroyed.
- Changed the main loop so it will no longer catch itself in a positive-feedback loop when tick times are too high. Now throws a "Can't keep up" and skips a few ticks when it has troubles.
- Switched optimization profiler(this will not have any imediate impact on the game, but will probably lead to further optimizations down the road)
