Hey everyone!
It’s been an amazing journey since the original 8-Bit Space launched here on Steam. I am absolutely thrilled to announce that the official sequel is now live on Kickstarter!
For 8-Bit Space 2, the game has been built from the ground up to run natively on original 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) hardware!
If you played the first game, you'll feel right at home with the continuation of the story. Following his successful mission to activate and pass through the portal, our astronaut has finally made his way back to his own dimension. Only to find himself stranded in an uncharted sector of deep space, separated from his ship.
Aided once again by his AI companion, ZX64, he has to track the vessel down across entirely new, hostile alien worlds. But before he can take those first dangerous steps, he has to log into his suit's built-in VR simulator to wake up his muscle memory and shake off "the dimensional bends."
That brings us to the playable demo: 8-Bit Space 2: Mission Reboot. It is an exclusive 3-level standalone prologue designed specifically for this launch, featuring unique maps that will not appear in the final release! You can play it instantly in your web browser via The Retroverse, or download the ROM file to try it out (available on Kickstarter).
Thanks to our amazing core community, the campaign was fully funded in less than an hour, and we are already pushing past our first major stretch-goal milestones! Limited physical complete-in-box cartridge editions are still up for grabs if you want a physical piece of modern homebrew history on your shelf.
Head over to the campaign page to play the prologue and check out the project details!
