Hello everyone,
First of all, I want to thank you all for the support, questions, and suggestions we have gotten over the many months of development! This truly does help us a lot and allows us to better understand what you guys want in a game!
We have done a lot of work as well on Optimization, and tested with a variety of systems ranging from high end gaming pc's, to lower tier laptops. In the video you will be able to see a fps counter, as well as myself showcasing the current settings if youre interested. Nonetheless good progress has been made on it and we're fairly satisfied with where its at now.
I have also released a small video for you guys, which can be viewed here.
Anyways, onto some news and tidbits. Lets get through the first part in bullet form.
February Update and new features;
- New weapon animations added for guns, Currently only MP40 and P08 Officially are shown, with more in the works.
- Re-worked the weapon system for a smoother and more dynamic playthrough of weapon swapping, item pickups, etc.
- Re-worked the inventory system to alleviate some bugs and present a more polished user experience.
- Configured and smoothed SCP-457's abilities a bit more, as well as optimized fire particles to have the most fps possible.
- Complete overhaul of the main menu, with a more 'horror/darker' look to it.
- Improved the leaderboard with more polish, as well as added a steam profile button to view a users steam profile (Which can be toggled to be publicly visible or not through a setting)
- Added in-game role markers above the users name in the nametag display.
- Improved the pickup widget to give user's more variety on which type of visual indicator they want to use (or none at all) for interacting with items
- Re-Worked the procedural generation system to allow for more paths for escape, as well as balanced some rooms for gameplay.
We have also done a lot of behind the scenes networking and backend features, mostly with multiplayer, server list's and more. Those will be shown and discussed in a later update.
We previewed some of these features in the discord, so (shameless plug) feel free to join to see them as they happen! Invite link is pinned in the community hub.
Addressing further development and release date(s);
We know you guys are anxiously awaiting the games release, and we did anticipate releasing sometime around now, but we have held off and decided to put more time into polishing the game to make it a more enjoyable, bug-free experience for you all. That being said, we do not have a full release date yet, but we do expect within the next few months to be able to present a near-public ready build. Personally I have been dealing with a lot of hassle with school, but still managing as much as I can with development programming wise, and the rest of the studio has done a ton with models and animations, as well as balancing weapons and items and designing new rooms. Thank you all for your patience, and we will be sure to keep you updated with further news! -Phonicz / Noah Knorr
