Hey everyone!
I have been travelling all of last week, so we have not been able to work much on the game, and I will keep this post short and more of an administrative update.
I had said that we would aim to release 0.8 to experimental by now, but given that we needed to also create some new art assets for the jungle, this has to be pushed a little more. Uploading to experimental is now mostly waiting for those assets to finish and for our final buildings to be updated, so we are mostly ready – but I really want the experimental build to at least have a consistent looking world, so this needs to be included.
Once 0.8 is released on experimental, I am planning to update the tutorial, work on sounds, and ideally add 3 more units to the game before the proper launch. On John’s end, we are hoping to get the new villagers into the game at that stage, and to polish their animations as much as possible.
Apart from a minor bug fix, our last update available to players was uploaded in April last year. That is clearly too long. We stopped updating frequently at that point to be able to release all the features of the new update together, but with all of the changes that occur in the development of a game like ours, there are too many unforeseen delays to bundle an update like that. As a result, we will be introducing the experimental branch with the first upload of 0.8 soon, and while we may take our time to upload an update to the main branch again, we will continuously update the experimental branch to reflect the current state of the game’s development – do no more long waits like this.
With that, we also hope to be getting more timely feedback from a larger group of players, which should ultimately help us to make this the best game it can be!
Until next week!
