This post is a little later than usual, I had a ton of responsibilities this weekend which didn’t allow me to write this earlier. However, you get an insight into the first placeholder I have created: The swordsman watchpost.
As you may remember from previous posts, we now have swordsmen and pistoleers in addition to our musketeers - and with the lack of range comes a new defensive building: The watchpost. Rather than shooting from atop a tower, the soldiers in a watchpost will be at the ground, looking out for enemies, and running to meet them when they see them in range.
The above watchpost is the one for the wooden tier, and brings with it a swordsman, who will be keeping a watchful eye over your colonists. I was able to create the majority of the model relatively quickly based on our library file mentioned last week, but got a little slowed down with a few different options for how to do the roof. The palm leaves you see in today’s image are a decent option, but there is still an improvement using thatch which I have been experimenting with, but haven’t managed to get to work yet. Hopefully you’ll be able to see it working on whichever new placeholder building I’ll have ready for next week.
