Hey everyone!
I was able to make very good progress this week, including introducing some new loot, creating the first pirate fortress (more on that in another post), and I will take today to show you the next biome: The Stone Valleys.

The first thing you will notice is that the Stone Valleys are a lot drier than the previous two biomes. Once the humidity map doesn’t just affect mountains, but also whether you can place fields (and what type of fields), this will become an area in which it won’t be possible to farm and sustain yourself with food, so you will need to send a generous amount of it from your main base. The biome also doesn’t have a lot of trees, which will make construction more difficult, and there is a decent amount of rocks coming up through the ground which will make building around them a bit of a challenge. Nevertheless, the biome is too far from your main base(s) to reach easily, so building an outpost here will be necessary to advance.

To make up for all of this, however, the biome will be the first one to provide stone as a resource. With this stone, you will gain access to the next tier of construction, which will include access to gunpowder production, pistoleers, bread production, and a range of other things that will help you defend yourself (and advance further into the island).

As with the previous two biomes, there are many hidden paths and areas in which you can find loot and treasures (I have also introduced some of the new loot, such as buried treasures, baskets, etc), and you should have many chances to replenish your ammo here even before being able to create it yourself.
Finally, the Stone Valleys also contain the first of the pirate fortresses, so you will have to raise a pretty sizable army to secure your expansion and to get whatever loot it contains. I will write a little more on the fortresses in the coming weeks to keep you up to date with how they will be interacting with the rest of the game.
Until next week!
