Hey everyone!
After telling you a lot about our plans over the past few weeks, today will be focused on what we’ve actually accomplished in that time.
First of all, we implemented the health bar, commander using food, and hunger mechanic talked about a few weeks ago. We are still fine tuning it, but having the health bar on screen is a nice change, and food use by the commander makes you plan your expeditions (and food supply) a little more carefully. We’ll have to do a bit more playtesting to see how it feels, and will let you know of any changes we think of!
John has also been working on some of the art for the strategic map, and we have also adjusted the wind map for the canopy and created a wind map for the shrubbery. With the new wind maps, the world should feel a little more alive.
We have also addressed some of the lack of audio in the game, and Haakon has created quite a few new sounds for better feedback for the first person gameplay and some of the buildings. I will hopefully get around to implementing them into the game in the next two weeks, so you will be able to also hear your village grow!

(Closer-up of the map. You can see rock deposits, trees/forests, and fruit tree groupings around the starting area)
Finally, I have made good progress on the strategic map (as seen in the images today). This map will be accessible in a new building, the military headquarters, and will allow you to view the entire island (or at least the parts you have scouted out so far). The map will be a major new part coming in the RTS update, and you will be able to get a lay of the land, see the various resources across it, the positions of your buildings and troops, as well as your opponents on it. Ultimately, this map will also allow you to give your troops high level orders, telling them to move to a valley to block it, or to withdraw toward a more fortified position.
Until next week!
