Summer '23 Devlog

Hello friends & followers!

This past month, we’ve had more happening with The BridgeMaster than we’ve had in a while! The game came out with an updated demo featured in the Steam Puzzle Fest, which got many new eyes on the game. And since then, we’ve made further updates to the demo, which you can now experience in the latest version today!

Here are some of the changes we’ve made recently:

  • Added the much requested “Undo” per action option!
  • Added scroll collectibles to some levels with dialogue advancing the plot
  • Updated dialogue for Intro sequence to clarify premise
  • Display differing villager responses depending on game state in levels 2 & 4
  • Added FTUE prompts for using the “Undo” “Restart” and “Hint” options
  • Raised the 3-star thresholds to reward strictly perfect solutions

Visuals

  • Show land tiles collapsing during the Intro sequence
  • Replaced jump tile rune with omni-directional icon for clarity
  • Updated meshes for tile nodes to appear more naturally shaped
  • Pause time scale while using the “Home” menu
  • Added VFX of debris periodically falling from tiles
  • Added VFX of dust cloud and planks falling from rickety bridges
  • Added VFX of magic sparkles over jump rune tiles
  • Improved VFX for house deconstruction effect

Audio

  • Added SFX for ground rumble during Intro
  • Added SFX for footsteps for magician and villagers
  • Added SFX for puzzle solved on level completion
  • Added SFX for UI button interactions

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a scaling issue for logo text in 4K resolutions
  • Fixed position of some UI elements for non-16:9 aspect ratios
  • Fixed sliding / frozen animations for villagers escaping

As always, thanks for playing, and stay tuned for more to come!
