What Will Be Available in the Steam Playtest?

There will be 18 roles available at the start of the playtest. Here is the list:

Innocents

Objective: Eliminate all the Werewolves and other threats.

  • Villager – No special powers.

  • Witch – Two special potions: one potion of life to save the Werewolves’ victim, and one potion of poison to eliminate a player.

  • Seer – Each night, you can see the true identity of one player.

  • Hunter – When you die, you can take another player to the grave using your last bullet.

  • Guard – Each night, you can protect a player from Werewolf attacks. You can’t protect the same player two nights in a row.

  • Dictator – Once per game, you can start a rebellion. You will then be able to eliminate a player the next day. If you make the right choice, you become Mayor. If you eliminate an Innocent, you will be eliminated when night falls.

  • Crow – Each night, you can designate a player who will receive two votes against them the next day.

  • Cupid – At the start of the game, you form a pair of two players. Their goal is to survive together; if one is eliminated, the other will follow.

  • Accelerator – Once per game, you can reduce the voting time during the day to 10 seconds.

  • Medium – During the night, you can talk with eliminated players.

  • Sisters – You have no special powers, but you know who your sister is, making her someone you can trust. (You can talk discreetly during the night.)

  • Telepathic Sisters – You know who your sister is and can discreetly communicate with her at any time using telepathy.

Werewolves

Objective: Eliminate everyone who is not a Werewolf.

  • Werewolf – Each night, you gather with the other Werewolves to choose a victim to eliminate.

  • Infect Wolf – Each night, you gather with the other Werewolves to choose a victim. Once per game, you can infect the victim, turning them into a Werewolf while keeping their original role power.

  • Scaled Wolf – Each night, you gather with the other Werewolves to choose a victim. If the Seer analyzes you, your scales will deflect the analysis to a random player, revealing their role instead of yours. Be careful—your scales fall off after deflecting an analysis.

Special Roles

Objective: Varies depending on the role.

  • Angel – Your objective is to be eliminated by the group during the first day’s vote. If you succeed, you win the game; otherwise, you become a Villager.

  • Serial Killer – Your objective is to eliminate everyone. Each night, you can kill one player. You are immune to Werewolf attacks.

  • Survivor – Your objective is to survive. You have two protections that can be used during the night to block any attacks.

Character Customization

Default clothing and hairstyle colors are fully customizable.

  • 36 clothing items

  • 18 hairstyles and facial hair options

No Rewards?

XP and Alerite (in-game currency) rewards will be disabled at the start of the playtest so the reward values can be adjusted at the end of each game.

The goal is to make reward amounts vary based on your actions, ensuring you are rewarded according to your impact during the game.

TL;DR

The Hunt in Town Steam playtest opens on February 1st, 2026. Access will be granted in small waves, and a Discord server is available to join.
