It's finally here!
Welcome to H4S' second major update: 1.3
This update brings a whole bunch of new features, mechanics, new items and balancing adjustments. Bringing us one big step closer to leaving early access.
The most exiting new mechanic this update is the new repairs. We're no longer just electricians, we're handy men, we fix everything. From burnt fuses, to leaky pipes, to broken floorboards. Whatever your haunted house needs may be, Handy Harry's repair men can get it done!
But that's not all, check out all these other changes:
- New repair types! We can fix anything!
- Interactable repairs! Perform the repairs yourself, it's about time you did some actual work!
- Added task radar! Found in levels, use this to locate needed repairs.
- New hats and skins! As if you didn't look great already!
- Players can be stunned! Take care when supercharging your flashlight, don't blind your colleagues.
- Balanced PVP mode!
- Limited ghost wallhacking ability until master switch is flipped.
- Limited ghost sprinting until master switch is flipped.
- Fixed ghost collision detection.
- Endless mode now has a fixed level size regardless of player count.
- Updated how to play page to reflect new mechanics.
- Optimised lighting.
- Added new level decorations.
- Added new shop bonus for players.
- Added subtle ghost animations.
- Added ghostling death animation.
- Added new welcome messages for joining players.
- Removed ability to disable AI jump scares in the options menu.
- Animated and coloured some main menu UI elements.
- Fixed issue where doors could sometimes overlap and be unusable.
- Fixed issue where players would see a slightly different endscreen time.
- Fixed players floating when typing in chat.
- Fixed actions happening in game while typing in chat.
- Fixed some spelling mistakes.
- Many more minor tweaks and fixes
Unfortunately because of the big changes to gameplay and difficulty the leaderboards have been reset in order to keep things fair.
This update has been a long time coming and is by no means the last one, not by a long way. In the future updates will be smaller and more frequent, while these large updates are fun to launch, it means that players need to wait a long time for new features and fixes. So for that reason I will be focusing on more direct updates, meaning new features will be released as they are completed rather than bundled together and launched together.
Nothing in the game is final, so if you have any suggestions please don't be afraid to get in touch with me via the discord: https://discord.gg/fJWwnSS
I'd love to hear your ideas, know if you experience any bugs or know if there are things you don't quite like.
As always:
Enjoy, have fun, get spooked and thanks for playing!
Ben.
