As some of you may know, Aeon Drive takes place in a city called Neo Barcelona, which — surprise, surprise! — is inspired by the real thing.
The name of each location in Aeon Drive references a real place, and even the backgrounds hide some references to what's really going on out there.
Here are some locations we were inspired by when creating the game. And if you want to see the rest — well, you just got to play the full game once it comes out on September 30th!
La Rambla street. Don’t you just want to jump all over those rooftops?
Park Guell. The original doesn’t come with deadly seesaws, though.
The Eixample neighborhood in Barcelona. You can probably see where the game’s platforming roots came from.
Of course, Aeon Drive adds more cyberpunk and grit into the mix, and does take some liberties with its setting. Still, being settled in Barcelona during the development of the game, we took a lot of inspiration from our surroundings when working on the game’s pixel art. Not only that, but we made sure to include some specific references, which will probably only be clear to you if you spent some time in real Barcelona. We hope those of you familiar with the location appreciate our effort.
Add Aeon Drive to your Wishlist and get ready to see the rest of Neo Barcelona when the game releases on September 30th!
