Ahoy, mateys!
Patch 1.4.4 is out, adding so many things it's hard for me to list them. Still no new finished map, I'm planning on releasing all 3 WIP maps for the next update. Maybe I'll throw in a fourth one for good measure. The biggest feature in this update is the new Liar's Dice mini-game added to the Wicked Mermaid map.

But that's only scratching the surface. Here are the changes:
Graphics and sound:
- New hero animations and shader: torso and legs are now connected, added breathing idle animation, walking/sprinting animation, upper body knockback when hero is hit, leaning when changing sprint direction, better melee attack animations
- Female hero texture ovehauled

- New alternate death animations for Pirates, Seamen, Sellswords, Husks, Spiders
- Overhauled Skeleton and Skeleton Captain animations
- New dirt texture (old one was kinda bad) and updated sand terrain texture, tweaked cobblestone tex
- The look of cave walls has been updated

- Blocking has a visual effect instead of a text popup
- Bomb and Flare explosions and Nova spells have shockwave visual effect added to them
- Fiddle spells have additional auras added to them, Searing Shot bullet has a trail of smoke after it
- Sound effect for skeleton, crab and maggot birth
- Updated tree, planks, shipwreck, bush and house textures, branch and rock models tweaked
- Elemental shader now animates the surface texture
- Changed Maggot model and Maggot Hatchling color
- Captain models now have a peg leg, Pirate Rifleman now has a hat
- Tweaked Monstrous Crab death animation
- Axe, Club and Hook charge attacks play different sound effect
- Added visual indicator before enemy charge attacks
- Updated sound effect for charging enemy attacks
- Maggot Hatchlings have shadows, Spitting Terrors have animated shadows
- Updated main menu

UI:
- New look for the minimap

- Changed various text colors, added support for multicolored text
- New look for lifebars. Allies have ivory-colored, enemies have red lifebars

- Some hero stats are now displayed in the inventory

- Spell aliases now display the items that will have a different spell when using the rune
- Runes are displayed on main UI next to the spells

- Overcharge/saturation color changed
- Monster special features are now displayed in color
- Repositioned gold count text display to under the gold coin icon
- Locked items have new color
Gameplay:
- Melee weapons can now have spells and sockets. They're best used with a shield, but if the one handed gun you're holding doesn't have a given rune color, you can still use the melee spell of the same color
- 3 new body armors: Scale Mail, Vest, Coat

- New bomb type - Grenade. Spawns 8 shrapnel on explosion. Shrapnel Bomb spell has been removed.
- Fiddles and Accordions no longer generate with spells. Instead they have sockets.
- New spells - Melee: Flurry I/II/III, Whirl I/II/III, Harass, Slam; Fiddle - Earbleed I/II/III
- New Pegleg boot type
- Added Sober Etching and Drunken Etching runes
- New Socket item type: it can add a socket to an item.

- The blocking system has been completely overhauled. The game now has an armor calculation. Armor is less effective on later levels, so you'll need more of it
- Powder crates are no longer dropped if too many are lying around the player
- Shield damage reduction decreased to 50%
- Added Hemorrhage effect to some monster attacks - hero will start bleeding for a couple of seconds
- Added Fire Resist and Fire Weakness effect to some monsters. Increases or decreases the fire damage they receive by 40%
- Added Bloodless feature to some monsters (skeletons, ghosts, cannons) They are immune to bleeding
- Added Damage Limit effect to some monsters (elementals) - they can only take limited damage per shot, so you'd better use fast-firing weapons against them
- Added Ocean Guardian monster type
- New gold sell cost calculation. Later-game items are sold for less than before
- Various item stat and stat roll probability changes
- Increased Salamander Lord life, decreased damage
Maps:
Most maps have received minor visual tweaks after the terrain texture update. Layout and monster placement changes happened on:
- The Forsaken Valley - added another human camp
- The Mudskipper Grove - added a new side area with a mini-boss elemental and high quality loot
- Minor layout changes also occurred on The Bush Fields and the Uncharted Caves
Bug fixes:
- A lot of them. Sorry, this changelog is already long enough.
All in all, I hope the next update will be at least this significant.
