Happy 1st Anniversary!
Age of Reforging v1.21a Anniversary Update
Dear Reforgers,
🎊 April 29, 2026. Age of Reforging: The Freelands turns one year old today!
A year ago, after 19 months of Early Access, we launched version 1.0 and opened the gates of the Freelands to players around the world. Since then, Reforgers from every corner of the globe have been forming parties, delving into ruins, clashing in the arena, and trading stories around the campfire. It is you who truly brought this world to life!
✨️ Together, we've reached many milestones this year:
✦ Over 2,200 reviews across all languages! We read every single one. Your feedback, encouragement, and honesty are what keep us pushing forward.
✦ We took Age of Reforging: The Freelands on the road to BOOOM IndieFair, Tokyo Game Show 2025, WePlay 2025, Taipei Game Show 2026, and more. Meeting so many of you in person has been one of the highlights of this journey.
✦ As a small indie studio, none of this would have been possible without your support. Your passion is what keeps the Freelands growing, and what gives us the courage to keep going.
🛠️1st Anniversary Update v1.21a
To celebrate, we're bringing you a fresh update as our anniversary gift!
New Content:
Added a new unique hero, Xuanji, an Eastern Mystic. She has her own unique attire and may appear in the Freelands as a mercenary, adventurer, gladiator, or in other possible roles.
With the arrival of Xuanji, a new set of fire spells "the Mystic Fire" has been added, inspired by the mystical Eastern practice of "Fang Shu" (ancient Chinese occult arts).
Improvements:
Optimized character state machine related code, slightly improving overall game performance
Deeply optimized character combat related code, significantly improving game performance during combat
Improved auto-cast logic: skills with longer casting range will now be prioritized
Improved auto-cast logic: when a character auto-casts a "Shoot" or "Spray" type skill, it will now aim at the target's chest instead of their feet
Improved auto-cast logic: when a character attempts to cast an area skill at a distant enemy, it will now track the target's position in real time and cast toward the enemy's latest position. This improvement also applies to actions in the AI Tactics Editor
"Magic Attack" type skills can now be activated while unarmed
On the world map, regardless of how overweight the player's inventory is, the party can now move at a minimum travel speed of 0.25, instead of being completely unable to move
When recruiting mercenaries, managing prisoners, or managing party members, the character model in the window can now be rotated by dragging
The mercenary model shown in the hiring window is now animated
Improved the automatic experience allocation for NPC heroes. They will now level up their abilities more intelligently
Improved the visual effects and sound effects of multiple skills. All of the Bard's songs now have music!
Bug Fixes:
Removed inappropriate preset tactics from the tactical AI database
Fixed an issue where Magic Shield would block friendly projectiles
Fixed an issue where the Beast Master's Summon Animal Companion skill cooldown would increase as the character leveled up
Fixed an issue where minimap icons were rendered beneath the fog of war, preventing them from displaying properly
Fixed an issue where the date was not fully displayed on the time passage screen
Fixed an issue where the windwall effect was not working correctly
Fixed an issue where Bear Trap dealt no damage
Fixed an issue where leather was incorrectly categorized as metal in cargo type
Fixed an issue in "Starfall Valley" where a centaur was incorrectly spawned inside a rock. Unfortunately, save files where the centaur has already spawned in the wrong position cannot be directly fixed
Fixed an issue where location models on the world map would block NPC movement paths
Fixed an issue where town shops did not apply the reputation discount based on the player's standing with the town's faction
Fixed an issue where buffs from forgotten skills could persist after using a Potion of Oblivion to respec
Fixed an issue where the Dual Wield buff name was displayed incorrectly
Fixed an issue where the animal companion would block the camera when editing character appearance
Fixed an issue where the animal companion would become hidden upon entering the Temple of Gulthos
Fixed an issue where taming an animal during the Endless Trials of Gulthos would prevent the trial wave from ending
Fixed an issue where only one of the Corrupt Hounds summoned by the King of Corruption would remain alive
Fixed an issue where characters recruited by the player could automatically spend EXP on leveling, causing unintended EXP loss
Fixed an issue where Freemen heroes Roland and Maggie were repeatedly respawning
Fixed an issue where NPC adventurers could get stuck at impassable locations on the world map
Taming can no longer be used on summoned creatures. This also resolves the issue where taming a Corrupt Hound in the King of Corruption's palace would prevent the player from exiting the area
Buff tooltips now correctly display the source of the buff
Quest Fixes and Improvements:
Desolation Fort:
Disappeared Young Villagers: Fixed an issue where leaving the scene after accepting the quest, returning to choose the ransom option, and then still being able to kill the gladiator Catus on the world map would cause the quest stages to become disordered.
Veracis Island:
Diego's Bottle: Fixed an issue where picking up the bottle early and completing the quest would still allow the player to select the dialogue option to start the quest again.
