Hi Troopers, BadFoX Eddie here. Today’s patch revolves around 4 distinct things:
- In-Game Chat - A new in-game chat which will allow people on the same team to message each other while they’re in the match,
- New particle effects - All current Troopers’ abilities and bullets have new visuals
- Post-game Feedback - After each match you will be fielded a question of “Would you recommend Super Squad to a friend?” We’ll use your feedback to help make the game as great as it can be.
- Urban Battleground - A new map that brings the fight to an urban city center
As always, our development roadmap is open to the public -- check it out to see what's coming up in future patches, as well as some known issues to be aware of.
Let’s dive in!

In-game Chat

- Players can now communicate while in-game.
- /All chat is currently turned off, but this will be coming in the near future.
- The ‘emote’ system is still active and bound to the TAB key.
Post-Game Feedback
- Every post-game screen asks “Would you recommend the game to a friend?” with a yes/no response
- This feedback gives us a general idea of whether we’re heading in the right direction, so the more responses, the better we can improve the game

All Troopers are going to be getting new and updated particle effects:

- Abilities - All abilities have been updated with fancy new particles, and abilities like Florp’s splosion grenades are clearly colored to show green or red for ally or enemy
- Bullets - All bullets will now reflect trooper damage type
- Blue - Strong against Shield
- Orange - Strong against Armor
- Red - Strong against Health
- Rain of Fire and Battleflag now have Enemy and Ally Visual markers to assist with recognition
The aim here is making it clearer who you want to prioritise out of the enemy Troopers and remove confusion over whether an ability was used by your team or the enemy team

Urban Battleground is live!

Crow:
We wanted to reward Crow players for strong decision-making with Hookshot by giving them more options, so she can now fly in from anywhere, not just an arbitrary range. To balance, we’re upping the cooldown on this powerful repositioning tool.
Hookshot
- Range removed, meaning that you can use it from anywhere.
- Cooldown increased from 12s to 18s
Tharlin:
We heard your feedback on everyone’s favorite beardy boi and his ability to burrow on top of someone and one-shot them with Minor Inconvenience, so we reduced the damage on his mines, and increased the time it takes for him to Burrow from Point A to Point B, so players can C themselves out of a bad situation.
Burrow
- Travel time of Tharlin’s increased from 1 second to 2 seconds
Minor Inconvenience
- Damage decreased from 140 to 110
Nebular:
We wanted to reward players for choosing when to attack and when to defend, so Nebular’s abilities will reflect that. Focus is already all about the DPS, so we’ve buffed Psionic Wave to better shield a team in defensive situations.
Psionic Wave –
- Defensive buff increased from 30% to 35%
- Damage buff reduced from 20% to 15%
Flintlock:
The damage over time was lasting waaaay too long and resulting in a lot of cheap deaths, so we nerfed it.
Double O’s
- DoT duration reduced from 8 seconds to 5 seconds.
Skull Crusher:
We hit Reserves hard a couple patches back to stop Raid Boss Skullcrusher from holding a point solo while bullet sponging an entire team. Now he’s melting too fast, so we’re slightly buffing reserves to activate at a higher health % to reward intelligent damage soaking.
Reserves
- Health threshold trigger increased from 10% to 20%
Fang:
We’ve made Fang’s core combo of slow-and-snatch easier to land by increasing Smoke Bomb’s slow. Since you’ll be landing more Fetches, we’re dialing back its damage and the Slow duration to narrow the window of opportunity.
Smoke Bomb
- Duration nerfed from 6s to 4s
- Slow % buffed from 30% to 40%
Fetch
- Damage nerfed to 250 from 300
Bug Fixes
- Flintlock can no longer travel through object while using Double O's
- Ragdoll Simulation now added correctly to everything that does explosive / special damage (Abilities only). That means lots more flying bodies across the map!!!
That's it for this patch! Check out our check out our roadmap to get some insight into what's coming down the pipe.
