Unfortunately, I don’t have good news for you in this post. The past few months have already been very tight financially, and the situation has not improved. Up until now, I managed to get by somehow, but I have finally reached a point where it is simply impossible to keep going.
Therefore, the development of Gold Hunter will be discontinued with immediate effect.
It is no longer financially viable for me to continue developing the game. To give you some context regarding the numbers: over the last few months, the revenue was only in the mid-three-figure range. I think this makes it clear why the project is no longer sustainable.
It is incredibly sad that things turned out this way. Of course, in hindsight, it’s easy to say, "If I had done a few things differently, maybe it wouldn't have come to this." But hindsight is always 20/20 – unfortunately, that’s just how it is.
What happens next?
The last remaining hope: The only option left for me is to hope to find an investor. If that happens, there might still be a chance to eventually move forward.
Removal from sale: At my request, the game will be removed from the store and will no longer be available for purchase by the end of July at the latest.
Last chance during the Summer Sale: If anyone still wants to grab the game, this will be your last opportunity. There will be a 60% discount during the upcoming Steam Summer Sale (June 25th to July 9th).
If the situation should change against all expectations, I will of course let you know. However, please don't count on it for the time being.
Thank you all for your support along the way. With that being said, I wish you all a great week and stay healthy!
