How do you find your way in an underwater environment?
One of the core challenges of an underwater survival game is navigation. You cannot climb a mountain and look around to figure out where you are. Underwater visibility simply does not allow it.
Traditional survival games solve this with roads and monuments scattered across the world. Players use these as reference points to orient themselves without needing a map. So how do we solve this underwater?
This is where our pipe system comes in.
Anchor is the area where a new race of aquatic humans lives. It was prepared by a previous civilization to support life and the rebuilding of society. They planted genetically modified plants, placed monuments, and built infrastructure, including a network of pipes that transfer power to these monuments.
These pipes are Anchor’s “roads”.

If you swim for a while, you will eventually find a pipe. Follow it and it will lead you to a monument. From there, you can choose a direction and keep exploring, or follow another pipe to the next one.
The pipe network is not just a navigation tool. It is deeply tied into the world’s lore and infrastructure. Navigation should feel like a natural part of the world, not a system bolted on top of it.

This is one of several navigation systems we have planned. Another involves surfacing and using landmarks above the waterline, which we will go into more detail on in future posts.
Stay tuned for more updates we will pe posting in the upcoming weeks!
