I want to share an important update about the future of Cursed Despair.
After spending a long time looking back at the current version of the game, I have decided not to continue with small patches or minor improvements. Instead, I am rebuilding Cursed Despair from the ground up.
The only core thing that will remain the same is the main identity of the game:
Cursed Despair will continue to be a 4-player co-op horror game.
However, almost everything else is being redesigned or rebuilt. This includes the gameplay mechanics, map design, atmosphere, progression, objectives, pacing, and the overall player experience. My goal is to create a much stronger, more focused, and more complete horror experience than the current Early Access version.
I also want to be honest: the current version of the game did not reach the quality level I wanted. Because of that, I do not think it would be right to simply rush the game into full release. I want the full version of Cursed Despair to feel like a real relaunch, not just a small update.
The remake will focus on:
A completely redesigned gameplay loop
New and improved horror mechanics
A rebuilt map and atmosphere
Better co-op experience for up to 4 players
More meaningful objectives and progression
A more polished and complete 1.0 release
I do not want to announce a release date before the game is truly ready. I will share progress as development continues, and I want to be more transparent during this rebuilding process.
To everyone who supported the game, added it to their library, played it, or gave feedback: thank you. I know the game has had a rough Early Access period, but I do not want to leave it in that state.
I am rebuilding Cursed Despair because I believe the idea still has potential — but it needs to become a much better game.
