Developer posts and news about this game.
Hello. We've made some good progress recently. Basilisk has some hot config UI action, setting up the rockets, enemies now have shields, the enemy formation system is sorted, experimented with a hypnotic background and loads of little tweaks and bug fixes along the way. We've bee
Hello. We've switched from Unity to Godot so we restarted development on Basilisk. Luckily, Godot is so nice to use that we're not far from getting back to where we were already. We've been posting across various socials - check linktree for links: linktree Now I understand how t
Update 11 - Obstructions I liked the idea of clouds of spirals that linger on enemy destruction that block the player's view. Might delete later.
Update 10 - Splines! Now I have a nice set of weapons, I've spent some time looking at splines. Textbook shmup enemy path first...
Its coming on nicely so I'll post another gif. Wishlist Basilisk now:
I switched a load of stuff on and forget to set reload times which ended up with this thing of beauty. Made me think that the enemies should be powerful and require loads of hits. This will mean that the player will fill the screen with bullets to kill anything. Glorious. Wishlis
Added more weapons to the config screen. You can only choose 6 to use in-game so I've added limitations on selection and a Randomise! button. Wishlist Basilisk now:
There's a chance that the Basilisk ability could be overpowered. So I've added shields that can counter that ability if needed.
Now I have the functionality of the Basilisk ability sorted - the game will slow and an enemy can be disabled after a few seconds of targetting and hit for triple damage.
I needed a strobing visual effect for the Basilisk ability. The quick first attempt turned out nicely. I love it when that happens. The idea is that the player can use this ability to disable enemies. Attacks on petrified enemies will cause much more damage. Strategy!
SLOOOOOW-MOOOOOO!!! Oh yeah, and I've got the basics of the player-enemy dynamic up and running. But, more importantly, SLOW-MO!!!
Got a weapon loadout screen up and running so its nice and easy to add new weapons and abilities down the line. Loves a bit of UI I do.
The most important thing in game dev before working on anything else is to get a funky Title Screen up and running. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
