Hello fellow Wardens! We hope the fields of Luna Nova have been treating you well 🌖
With this post we wanted to answer some questions on how the game works on the Steamdeck. If you have any more questions, feel free to reply to this post and we will get back to you.
Does the game work on the Steamdeck?
YES, you can play it on the Steamdeck!
How well does it run?
The game provides settings where you can customize your experience. On the Steamdeck specifically, it can reach 80+fps if you play it on medium settings, and it can easily reach ~60fps on higher settings.
Controller Icons
All inputs are working correctly and as intended, similar to what you would experience with a controller connected to your computer, although not all controller icons match the ones on Steamdeck. There is currently no button re-mapping available.
Text Readability
The text readability is adequate on the Steamdeck and we haven't found any issues with smaller text although in some cases you might find it slightly harder to read. You can use the Steamdeck's Zoom feature in those cases.
Why is it not officially verified?
We do not have access to the verification process so while the game is fully playable on the Steamdeck, it is up to Valve to provide the verified checkmark.
Should I play the game on Steamdeck?
This is up to you! If you were looking to play the game on your Steamdeck you definitely can and the game runs perfectly fine. Let us know how it works for you in the comments!
If you are interested in checking out, might we entice you with our recent MAJOR update including a ton of new content? New weekly challenges, new Whispers, a new defensive Tool, new Tool cosmetic skins and animations and more!

There's nothing quite like the sound of silence. In some ways, it's tranquil, but in others it's deafening. It's the one thing that the best survival horror games always get right - they force you to listen out for a rustle in the bushes, a twig snapping, an ominous rumbling. Harvest Hunt does all of that and more; the whisper of the corn, the splashing of water, the roar of The Devourer. One of my personal favorite indies of 2024, this under-loved gem just got a brand new update, and it's perfect for spooky season.

Greetings Villains,
Embark on a terrifying new challenge this Halloween with Harvest Hunt's FREE spine-tingling new update, Midnight Harvest! Expect game-changing new content, haunting Halloween cosmetics, and a limited time scary season reskin of the legendary Devourer. Brave the darkness and discover all the (grisly) details in our chilling new trailer:
Dubbed a "masterclass in survival horror" by Overclockers UK, Harvest Hunt dares you to face enhanced horrors from October 23rd to November 4th, 2024. Sink your teeth into this feature-packed content drop that’s yours to explore without spending a dime!
WHAT'S LURKING IN THE DARK?
New Abilities: Challenge fate with "Vigor Drain" and "No Exit" adding intense pressure to your survival strategy within our tarot-inspired "Whispers" system.
The Repellent: Arm yourself with this grotesque new tool—a shrunken skull with the mighty power to block an attack from the Devourer. Plus, revisit your favorite weapons, with haunting cosmetic skins and unique inspect animations.
Weekly Challenge Mode: Each week, face three new horrifying objectives, known as Rites, earning tokens to unlock season-inspired rewards and cosmetics.
Beware, Wardens: The Devourer is more vigilant than ever, lurking in a costume just for Halloween. Outsmart the beast before scary season is over because this creepy visage will disappear (like so much of its prey) when the sun sets November 12th, 2024…

New Features & Content
Content
New Tool
A new defensive tool has been added into the game! The Repellent tool can be found in the Church. It is available from the very beginning of the game for all players. It can be purchased twice and costs 25 Vigor.
Repellent: Hold it to protect yourself from one Devourer attack.
The Repellent is a tool that we created after observing players and their playstyles post-release. A lot of you liked the stealthy approach, one where you harvest Ambrosia and avoid the Devourer instead of confronting the Devourer with offensive tools. Therefore, the Repellent is an excellent choice for those Nights you want to be left alone and go on about your business.
New Whispers
Two new Calamity Whispers have been added into the game and will be part of the randomization pool with the rest of the Whispers. They are available from the very beginning of the game for all players.
Vigor Drain: Your Vigor is constantly drained during the night.
Vigor Drain adds a time pressure that lasts the whole Night regardless of whether you play offensively and want to banish the Devourer, or play carefully while avoiding dangers and collect Ambrosia. You now have to work faster and rely on various game mechanics and systems for re-filling your Vigor while working on your objective.
No Exit: Entry points can only be used with a key found around the Farmlands.
No Exit makes the game more challenging for those who always depended on escaping the Night. Using an Entry Point in the game at any time is a safety net for a lot of situations so we wanted to pull the rug a bit and make you work for your escape.
Tool Inspect Animations
All Tools now have a personalized and custom inspect animation. Tools can be inspected at any moment when being held in the game and the animation can be interrupted at any time as to not get in the way of gameplay actions. Each Tool only has one inspect animation. Enjoy looking at your Tools up close and checking out the new cosmetic skins we added for them!
We are introducing a new system that allows us to implement new Tool looks! Our debut theme is called Hexxed, with spooky and creepy vibes to match this season. All Tools have additional skins which can be applied via any Tool card in the game. Currently, each Tool has 1 new skin. The player can obtain the Tool skins using a new in-game currency which is rewarded by completing Rites.
See more information about the Rites below.
Rites
Rites are side objectives/challenges the player can complete in order to earn Tokens. With the Tokens, you are able to obtain new Tool Cosmetic Skins. The Rites refresh automatically every week to 3 new random ones. Rites become available after the completion of Season 1 (Antonia).
Halloween Special
For a limited time only, the Devourer has a new look! Enjoy this spooky season with a pumpkin spice latte and a pumpkin head Devourer 🎃
The Halloween Devourer skin will be applied from the 23rd of October to the 12th of November.
Gameplay
Options are now available in the pause menu while playing the game. These are all the same options as in the main menu and can now be adjusted on the run.
Localization
New languages have been added into the game! Chinese (traditional), Chinese (Simplified) and Japanese are now available in the Options menu.
Updates
Gameplay
After the Devourer chases the player a cooldown is applied, stopping him from emerging from a hole and entering another confrontation with him too soon
When the player damages the Devourer, the reticle now flashes green
If the player enters the Hideouts after a chase, the Devourer will now investigate away from the Hideouts, allowing the player to leave the area
UI
Updated various images and text with scale boxes so the text is confined within the area defined
Main HUB screen has now been updated in order to include the Rites tab
Updated the credits screen with extra developers and their roles
Assets
Jaw Trap material tweaks to make it stand out less due to its high brightness
Roadsigns material tweaks to make sure that when the lantern shines on them they are still readable
The player's lantern now emits a more realistic radius of light, encompassing any items the player holds in its light
Red lanterns over the Effigy will now render no matter the distance from the player for better visibility
Bug Fixes
Gameplay
The Energy Rations Fortification will not increase the max Vigor anymore if the player exits to the main menu mid-run
The Devourer will not attack the player anymore if there is something between them (e.g. a fence)
The Devourer will now react to being hit with the Pitchfork if the player was hitting while hidden inside the cornfield
Controller
Fixed a bug where holding the button in the Intro and Outro of the game made the text appear all at once
Fixed a bug where holding the button that opens the pause menu immediately unpauses it
Fixed a visual bug where the scrollbar UI was showing without a scrollbar in the lore reveal screen post-run
Fixed a bug where holding both controller inputs in the map screen circled though the tab selection
Assets
Some card illustrations that appeared blurry will now be full resolution
The Fragment particle indicator will not fall sideways anymore so it becomes hard to see
Rations were optimized for an overall better performance

Thank you so much to everybody who bought our game for release week! We've been busy working on our first updates and we're delighted to share a big one with you today.
Harvest Hunt is now playable in French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese!
We added a huge amount of lore to the game just before shipping and wanted to make sure that the translation quality was as good as possible before we launched - that is why it took longer than expected.
Going forward, we're also working on Chinese and Japanese localisation and we'll have some more updates on that soon.
As always, if you spot any bugs or any errors in the translations, please report them to us so we can address them quickly.
UPDATES v1.2.1

When dashing the footstep sound the player makes will now be a walking and not a running footstep, therefore not alerting Sound Fiends on dash
Increased the sight distance values of the Devourer when the player is hiding in the cornfields
Assets
Adjusted water reflection colors to not look green and be confused with the poisoned water (which is green)
Added missing effects to Proxy Poppet when it's not available to use
Misc
Updated credits
BUG FIXES
Monster
Fixed cases where the Devourer would get stuck for a few seconds or not move at all
Fixed cases where the Devourer wouldn't receive damage when attacked with Tools
Fixed the Devourer not playing their emerge animation if the player were shining the lantern on them
Gameplay
Spare Mask Whisper would sometimes not work due to initialization issues which are now fixed

Greetings Villains!
As we count down the final hours until the release of Harvest Hunt, let's delve deeper into the artistic and musical roots that define the eerie essence of our dark folk survival horror game.
ARTISTIC VISION
Uriel Cordas the mastermind behind the game's visuals, drew heavily from the darkly enigmatic themes of European folk horror. His style merges the grotesque charm of folk traditions with innovative influences from modern film and gaming. Notably, the team were inspired by the animator Yuri Norstein for his distinctive lighting and texture, and the painter Ludwig Meidner for his bold ink use and distorted forms. Even modern games like Inscryption, with their striking colored lighting, have left their mark on our visual narrative. The game's iconic elements, such as the Tarocco Siciliano-inspired cards and the Careto mask-wearing Warden, along with the whalebone hood of the Devourer, reflect deep-rooted cultural traditions, transforming them into key gameplay features.
MUSICAL ATMOSPHERE
Jeff Broadbent, a composer renowned for his work on titles like Diablo Immortal and Resident Evil Resistance, brings to life Harvest Hunt's suffocating ambiance through his music. The soundtrack is a homage to European musical traditions, such as fado, and echoes the haunting tones of horror film scores like those from M. Night Shyamalan's The Village. Broadbent's compositions are meticulously crafted to enhance the game's tension and dread, making every moment in Luna Nova feel as if you're stepping through a portal into a world of unrelenting fear.
The rich tapestry of sounds and visuals in Harvest Hunt promises an unparalleled horror strategy experience. Tune in to the game's haunting soundtrack on Spotify to get a taste of what awaits you in Luna Nova.
And it's not too late to ensure you're among the first to explore Harvest Hunt; add it to your wishlist today, and be alerted the moment it goes live:
