Multiplayer Has Arrived in Fruit Salad!
Fruit Salad now has a little room for friendly competition. Challenge someone beside you or invite a Steam friend online, with separate boards and one goal: earn the highest score!
This update also makes the default graphics mode more accessible to a wider range of devices, including older PCs and laptops with integrated graphics.
Two Ways to Play Together
Local Versus: Play together on the same computer, with separate controls for each player.
Steam Friends Versus: Invite a Steam friend and compete online.
Both players can watch each other’s board throughout the match. Keep an eye on the competition but leave enough room for your next watermelon!
Classic Versus: Highest Score Wins
Good placement and bigger merges are the keys to victory.
Both players start with their own board and build their scores.
When a player tops out, their board freezes and their score locks.
If the other player is already ahead, they win immediately.
Otherwise, the remaining player keeps playing until they beat the locked score or top out.
If both players top out with equal scores, the match ends in a draw.
Reaching the target exactly isn’t enough. You’ll need to beat it!
A topped-out board stays visible and dims so it’s clear whose run has ended. The remaining player sees the score to beat while they chase those last few points.
Smoother Drops
Dropper movement is no longer locked until the drop finishes, making it easier to start lining up your next move.
Support for More PCs and Laptops
Fruit Salad now uses the Compatibility renderer by default. This removes the Vulkan requirement for normal play and broadens support for older graphics hardware and integrated laptop graphics.
For players who prefer it, Forward+ remains available as an optional Steam launch mode. Choose it when launching the game through Steam.
There’s now a short asset preload when the game starts. This prepares graphics and effects ahead of time to help reduce hitches during gameplay.
