Patch Notes 1.5
Bugs
Fixed an issue where if the Robin Egg took more meters than you had, the meters would go below zero (still displayed as zero) and you would have to make up those lost meters before it would come up above zero.
Fixed an issue where your meters wouldn't be paused when coming out of pause mode.
Fixed an issue with the track limits not being set up correctly when in Snowflake and Flying mode.
While in Snowflake mode, you won’t hover over the edge.
While riding Johnny Pterodactyl, you can no longer ride the edge of the track to avoid geysers.
Fixed an issue where the Wilhelm scream and High Score audio would be cut off it you immediately hit ‘play again’.
Fixed an issue where scores from the Ghost Zone wouldn’t carry over towards distance related achievements.
Updates/Additions
Added a mini game, The Box Game. Spend virtual Pancake currency to play this mini game where you’ll be able to pick one of three boxes. Whatever is under the box, be it a hat or a marble skin, it will be added into your inventory.
Added a Wardrobe where you will be able to select the hat you want to wear and what type of marble you want to use.
Selecting the Black Top Hat icon will put the hat that changes color depending on leaderboard rank onto your player.
Pancakes are used as a virtual currency to play The Box Game.
A free Pancake is awarded every 8 hours.
The timer will not start again until you run out of Pancakes. It, however, will not stop if you get Pancakes while it is already counting down.
Can be found as a rare collectible on the lava track.
Can be purchased from your Steam Wallet.
New game modes:
Added a game mode, Volcano!
The track is cleared… except the Volcano is erupting. Look out for falling Lava!
Default speed multiplier set in the settings menu does not affect the speed of this game mode.
Bottle Rockets are not available in this mode.
Added game modes Classic (Normal) and Classic (Expert)
No collectibles spawn in these game modes. See how far you can get with just distance.
Has no meter multiplier (same as other normal game modes).
Collectibles:
Added a collectible, Wave Rider. Collecting a Wave Rider will summon the ocean. You can keep your inner tube infinitely, as long as you go through the golden rings. If you miss a ring, the ocean will disappear. Rings get closer and closer together as you progress.
Wave Rider is available in all game modes except Firefly.
Can only collect Lava Rocks, and Robin Eggs while in this state.
Speed multiplier of 7.
Added a collectible, Pancakes. Finding one of these rare stacks of pancakes will allow you to continue a good game if you die, or can be used once you return to the main menu where you can exchange a Pancake for a go at the Box Game to win hats and marble skins.
The Bottle Rocket now has an equip animation.
Reduced spawn rate from 23% to 19%
Collecting a Robin Egg can now only add meters if collected with a magnet.
The Thunder Cloud that comes from collecting a Thunder Bolt now travels 50% faster and can travel 200 to 350 meters. Previously 100 to 250 meters.
Increased the spawn rate from 15% to 25%
Thunder can be heard when collecting this item.
Added a second chance feature:
When you die, you will now be prompted with an option to finish the game or continue for the cost of one Pancake.
If you die after the second go, you get no more chances.
This option can be disabled in the settings menu.
Press ‘Space’ to quickly exit the prompt if enabled (enabled by default).
Achievement changes:
The ‘10M Only the Best’ achievement is now ‘5M Only the Best’ and requires 5 million meters instead of 10 million.
The ‘75M Record Breaker’ achievement is now ‘10M Record Breaker’ and requires 10 million meters instead of 75 million.
If you already had this achievement unlocked, you will be granted the Purple Stars marble skin for free.
In an effort to make the ‘Grim Grinning Ghosts’ achievement more attainable, when using a Ghost Jam, which can be found in the Ghost Zone, you can now collect other Ghost Jams to reset the three second timer. Ghost Jams can now also collect Lava Rocks, Thunder Bolts, and Robin Eggs.
The frames per second debug is now available on the main menu.
Added a separate sensitivity option in the settings menu for high speed power ups, such as the Bottle Rocket, Snowflake, Ghost, and Wave Runner. This will default to 2. (Normal sensitivity defaults to 1)
Leaderboard changes:
Your Steam Friends now show up on the leaderboards as a blue color with “(Friend)” besides their name.
Leaderboards now show progress when uploading scores. (There is a timeout if you’re unable to upload scores within a duration of time).
Added the new game modes, Volcano!, Classic (Normal), and Classic (Expert) to the leaderboards. See how your stats compare!
Performance improvements:
Lava tiles used to be cubes with 6 sides (what other type of cube is there). Now lava tiles are flat planes (only 1 side). This means the camera will have to render less polygons and will, therefore, slightly increase performance. Slightly.
Improved particle system for the clouds in the Thunder Bolt effect. This should reduce lag spikes for some users when collecting a Thunder Bolt.
Developer Notes
If you want to avoid the loading process of getting the leaderboard stats every time you load a level, go into your wardrobe, and switch out the top hat for another hat or disable the hat altogether if you don’t have another hat. Levels will then load immediately.
We've temporarily disabled the hat selection feature from levels while we work out some issues with the Steam stats. Also, there is now a 12 second timer when loading leaderboards that will automatically load them if it is unable to upload your scores in time. There will hopefull

Also, there is now a 12 second timer when loading leaderboards that will automatically load them if it is unable to upload your scores in time. There will hopefully be a better fix for this in the next update.

Fixed an issue causing an automatic frame limit of 60 even if it was set to a higher value in the settings menu.
Fixed an issue with the fireflies in Firefly mode where they would fly under the ground.
Fixed an issue in Meteor Mayhem where if you were riding a pterodactyl and you hit a meteor, the pterodactyl would stay in place and the marble would float into space.
Fixed an issue where the Robin Egg could only give a max of 9,999 meters instead of 10,000 meters.
Meters gained or lost from Robin Eggs now are rounded to the nearest hundredth.
Updates/Additions
Added a game mode, Ghost Zone.
Beware! The lava has come to life!
Added a collectible, Ghost Jam. Collecting a jar of this Ghost Jam will turn you into a ghost. Your speed as a ghost is very fast, however, this only lasts 3 seconds.
While in use, you will be unable to pick up any other items ‘cause ghosts can’t pick stuff up, duh.
Has a speed multiplier of 20.
Bottle Rockets and Snowflakes do not spawn in this mode.
Leaderboards can now be found on the main menu on the ‘Leaderboards’ tab. Check it out to see how your stats compare to other players!
Your hat color corresponds your best ranking in any of the 10 current leaderboards. For example, if you have 2nd place on one leaderboard and 38th on another, you will be ranked as 2nd for hat color.
1st Place: Gold Top Hat
2nd - 3rd Place: Ruby Top Hat
4th - 10th Place: Silver Top Hat
11th - 100th Place: White Top Hat
101th + Place: Black Top Hat
If you have at least two 1st place positions, your hat will be Ultra Purple.
You only keep your color as long as you maintain your position on the leaderboards.
Added 8 additional achievements:
Archaeologist: Collect 5 Dinosaur Bones in a single game.
Zeus Caboose: Collect 7 Thunder Bolts in a single game.
Magnet Machine: Collect 10 Lava Rocks using Magnets in a single game.
Grim Grinning Ghosts: Collect 7 Ghost Jams in a single game. Note, this item can only be found in the game mode ‘Ghost Zone’.
Lava Rock Extraordinaire: Collect 50 Lava Rocks in a single game.
Collector 2.0: Collect a Lava Rock, Bottle Rocket, Snowflake, Robin Egg, Dinosaur Bone, Thunder Bolt, and a Magnet in a single game.
10 Million Only the Best: Avoid 10 million meters worth of lava.
75 Million Record Breaker: Avoid 75 Million meters worth of lava.
Achievement icons have been updated.
Congratulations. You now have more firefly friends.
Fireflies now start at a random position instead of being all clumped together on start.
Falling meteors now rotate.
You can now choose your default speed multiplier from 1.0 (default) to 2.0. This is located in the settings menu. This, however, will not affect the game mode Meteor Mayhem as the meteors are timed according to the marble’s speed.
The settings menu now has a fullscreen toggle option.
Added a 3 second delay in between each time you can jump. The 3 seconds does not start until you land the jump.
The Snowflake audio no longer resets when you collect another Snowflake. It will now just keep playing out.
The Magnet now only lasts 15 seconds. Previously 17.
Reduced the rate the Wilhelm Scream plays after a death from 5% to 1%.
Performance improvements:
Optimized the steam that the lava produces.
Improved the way the green fog gets produced in Firefly.
Reverted the 3D blizzard effect back to the 2D overlay.

Magnets now can only collect Lava Rocks, Robin Eggs, and Thunder Bolts.
Developer Notes
There is a known issue where the program will automatically put a frame limit of 60. To fix this, every time you launch the program, go into the settings menu and click save. Until we have a permanent fix, this will temporarily resolve this issue.
Sorry for the frequent updates. This latest patch released a few game-breaking issues. Is anyone still experiencing lag when collecting a Snowflake?
While testing the game, the overall performance seems to drop when in the new Snowflake Blizzard mode and while in Firefly mode. Has anyone experienced worse performance in either of these modes, or just in general?

Fixed an issue with the mouse control that caused the marble to be locked to the center of the track after pausing the game.
Fixed an issue where when traveling at high speeds with the Bottle Rocket, you would sometimes miss collectibles.
Fixed an issue in the settings menu where the resolution dropdown would display duplicates of certain resolution options.
Firefly game mode now counts towards the achievements. If you already have a high score in this mode, it should automatically carry toward any distance related achievements. However, collection achievements were not counting in this mode until just now. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Fixed a visual issue where the right-most Lava Fall would clip into the mountain.
Updates/Additions
Added a Leaderboard:
There is currently only one Leaderboard: “Greatest Distance Traveled”. This will be recorded in all game modes. Additional Leaderboards will be added in the future.
Eventually, depending on your position on the Greatest Distance Leaderboard, you will have a different hat equipped.
1st Place: Golden Top Hat
2nd - 3rd Place: Ruby Top Hat
4th - 10th Place: Silver Top Hat
11th - 100th Place: White Top Hat
Everyone else will have a Black Top Hat
You only keep your hat as long as you keep your position on the leaderboard.
Please note, this feature is not currently in the game. As of now, everyone has a black top hat equipped.
Collectibles:
Added a collectible, the Dinosaur Bone. Collecting a Dinosaur Bone calls your best pterodactyl friend, Johnny Pterodactyl for a ride. He will carry you for 15 seconds. But be warned, he doesn’t like geysers, so make sure you help him navigate around them, otherwise your ride might be cut short. Spawn odds are 20%. While in this flying state, you will be unable to collect:
Bottle Rockets
Snowflakes
Other Dinosaur Bones
Added a collectible, the Magnet. Collecting a Magnet will automatically pick up all nearby items. It lasts 20 seconds and can be used with any other power up. Spawn odds are 35%.
The Bottle Rocket now has a speed multiplier of 8.5. Previously 5.
Updated the Snowflake:
The marble now has a speed multiplier of 3 when using the Snowflake. Previously did not have a speed multiplier.
When in Snowflake mode, the marble now rides a sled and wears a Santa hat.
The 2D blizzard screen overlay has been replaced with a 3D blizzard.
Updated the visuals of the Lava Rock.
Added a simple death animation to the marble.
Added a jump feature. Press ‘Space’ to jump. Please share your feedback on this jump mechanic so we know whether it should be tweaked or removed.
The marble now starts at -30m instead of -20m to give more reaction time on start.
When the marble collects an item that gives or takes meters away from your score, a UI text element displays how much was given/taken.
Added a ‘How to Play’ screen on the main menu that displays the game controls and the collectibles with their properties.
Added a way to check high scores on the main menu. Hover over the game mode button and the high score for that mode will pop up.
Added a text element on the ‘Game Over’ screen that displays what level you’re currently on.
Performance Improvements:
Terrain now gets rendered at the start of each game which will result in a higher frame rate.
Terrain quality has been adjusted to optimize performance.
Developer Notes
Please share your opinions on the music that plays when collecting a Snowflake. Would a howling wind/blizzard sound work better? Thanks for your input!
If you have any suggestions for any new game modes, we'd be happy to hear them!

Patch Notes 1.2
Bugs
Fixed an issue where if the marble collected a Snowflake or Bottle Rocket within one second after coming out of the Snowflake or Bottle Rocket mode, they would be vulnerable to lava.
Fixed an issue where collectibles wouldn’t spawn for a duration of time after starting a game.
Fixed an issue with the Robin Egg where if you hadn’t collected any bonus meters, it wouldn’t subtract any meters from your score.
Fixed a couple bugs last week that weren’t mentioned in the patch notes.
All Steam Achievements now work in all game modes.
Forced an aspect ratio of 16:9 to prevent UI elements from becoming distorted.
Updates/Additions
Added the Thunderbolt. Collecting this will cause a storm cloud to travel ahead of the marble, carving the lava path with its lightning. Spawn rate is 15%.
Adjusted collectible spawn rates:
Lava Rocks spawn rate increased from 75% to 85%.
Snowflake spawn rate decreased from 50% to 30%.
Bottle Rocket spawn rate decreased from 25% to 23%.
Robbin Egg spawn rate decreased from 33% to 20%.
New game mode, Firefly:
In this mode, the only cheap lava you can see are the ones lit by your firefly friends circling you.
Snowflakes and Bottle Rockets are disabled in this mode.
Meters gained from traveling (not collectibles) have a multiplier of two. So, without collectibles, if you traveled 100 meters in a normal game mode, you would have traveled 200 meters in this mode.
Added a settings menu.
Music changes:
Music for Meteor Mayhem has been switched out with an alternate track.
Music for Main Menu has been switched out with an alternate track.
New track for Firefly mode.
Performance improvements:
All objects that get spawned at the start of a level now don’t get destroyed and re-instantiated when restarting the level. This will cut down on lag spikes when you restart levels.
Adjusted terrain quality to cut down on render times.
Added a mouse control setting that can be enabled in the settings menu. This is off by default.
Added a control to get more precise movements. Holding the ‘W’ key or the ‘Space’ key will decrease your sensitivity by 50%. Let us know what you think of this new feature and if you think 50% is too high or too low.
Robin Eggs now give/take 500 – 10,000 meters from your score. Previously 100 – 2,000.
Robin Eggs now have a 60% chance of adding meters and a 40% chance of taking meters. Previously 50% - 50%.
Added a special high score screen when you get a new high score.
Added a blizzard animation when the Snowflake power is in use.
Updated the lighting on the main menu.

Fixed an issue where the marble would sometimes get launched into the air. As a result to this fix, the center of the marble now has to be over the lava for it to recognize a hit. This will make gameplay slightly easier and performance slightly better.
Fixed an issue where the mouse would still be visible while playing a game.
Fixed the issue preventing the main menu audio from looping.
Fixed a rounding issue where a new high score wouldn’t match the current score text.
Fixed an issue where the UI displayed a negative score on start. The score will now stay as zero meters until the marble gets to the first lava block.
Fixed an issue where the lava generator generated only a single tile every frame if needed. Because of this, this caused the marble to sometimes be able to outrun the lava. Now, all lava tiles are generated on a single frame.
Updated/Additions
Added an option to adjust sensitivity on the main menu.
Added a gamemode “Meteor Mayhem”.
In this gamemode, not only do you have to avoid cheap lava, but you also have to avoid falling meteors! Let us know what you think of this new game mode!
Updated the game visuals:
Added not-so-cheap lava to the ground beneath the floor.
Added a nighttime skybox.
Added an aurora borealis effect to all levels.
Added lava shimmer effect to lava tiles roughly 50 meters in front of the marble.
Marble now moves at a constant speed and no longer speeds up as the game progresses.
Updated the in-game UI elements.
Added a pause menu. Press the escape key to access it. When resuming a game, you will be invincible for 3 seconds. During this time, the distance meter will not increase and collectibles will not be able to be picked up.
Marble speed adjustments (Due to the fact that it’s easier to avoid lava tiles with the new lava detection method, speeds have been increased so the game modes aren’t too easy. You shouldn’t notice a big difference in gameplay.):
Increased marble speed in Easy, Normal, and Hard modes by 13%.
Increased marble speed in Expert mode by 15%.
] *Performance improvements:
Decreased terrain quality which greatly reduced lag spikes.
Marble no longer uses taxing physics calls when rolling down the path.
Added a frames per second debug display on the bottom right corner of the screen.
Power-Ups and Collectibles
Added Lava Rocks: collecting a Lava Rock grants 1,000 bonus meters. The second Lava Rock collected grants 2,000 bonus meters, the third 3,000, and so on.
Added Snowflakes: collecting a Snowflake will cover the floor in a sheet of ice protecting you from the cheap lava for 10 seconds. Collecting another Snowflake while the path is iced over will reset the timer.
Added Bottle Rockets: collecting a Bottle Rocket will attach a Bottle Rocket to the marble, launching it down the floor of cheap lava at a much faster rate. You are invincible to lava while being launched.
Added Robin Eggs: collecting a Robin Egg may result in losing 100 to 2,000 meters, or gaining 100 to 2,000 meters. There is a 50% chance for either gaining or losing. All meter values have an equal chance of appearing.
Spawn Odds (collectibles spawn in place of a lava tile, so every lava tile has a chance of being a collectible.)
Odds of any collectible spawning are 1%.
Odds of a Lava Rock spawning are 75%.
Odds of a Snowflake spawning are 50%.
Odds of a Bottle Rocket spawning are 25%.
Odds of a Robin Egg spawning are 33%.
New Steam Achievements added.
All achievements, both new and old, work in all game modes.
Let us know what you think of the new changes and suggest anything you'd like to see in the game.
