It's been a while, dreamers.
This project has been dormant for some time, but I've had this update cooking in the background. The game itself has not been updated, but I want to ensure this game's packaging is fit for long term support, so I've made several improvements to the packaging, and as a bonus, I decided to release previous iterations of this game in its main package, completely free. This game was always really experimental, so I feel like the progression of this game is historically valuable. It is the mission of Protoria Studios that our game products are fully playable offline & forever, so this is a continued step in that direction.
If you have any issues with this update, it is recommended to uninstall and re-install.
This update includes the following changes:
- Updated credits
- Updated manual contents
- Moved several texts all into the Readme file
- Removed various unnecessary files from packaging
- Updated Discord links in files
- Added notes about screenshots in Readme
- EULA has been removed
- Added a Compatibility launcher script to launch the game now, which addresses a potential issue launching the game seen on some computers with newer Intel CPUs, discovered in our other game Skyfear
- Added 3 previous versions of the game: V0.1.1, V0.2.1, V0.3 "Hummingbird", and they've each been given a launch option. Each version of the game uses a unique filename for save data, so there **shouldn't** be any conflict. However, this has not been tested extensively.
- Added Readme to launch options as well
- Restored functionality to some **secret** files
A comment about the future of Optimum Link
As of right now the most recent source copy of the game is questionable, since there was some issues with the backup process back in 2019. This makes picking up right where we left off a bit of a challenge. Right now, we aren't working on this game, but there is a sentiment that we'd like to do something, someday. There are options. Until then, we'll still be here, just mostly in maintainence mode.
