In Update 1.6 we proudly introduce FUEL FRENZY—Armajet's all-new objective-based game mode exclusively on Moon, Magma, and Canyon! Attack fast, retreat faster and work together as a team to collect and hold 10 or more FUEL CELLS to WIN! With the launch of Fuel Frenzy, we've also revamped each game mode's "intro card" animation to make sure you know exactly which game mode you're joining and spectating. Check out the rules and additional in-game features built specifically around Fuel Frenzy below!
**Update 1.6X Official Release Notes**
Please read these thoroughly, including the KNOWN-ISSUES which will be updated ASAP.
FUEL FRENZY!
- Capture and hold 10 or more Fuel Cells to begin a 15s countdown to victory!
- If both teams have 10 Fuel Cells or are tied in fuel cells, the 15s countdown will be held until a team is able to capture and hold just one more fuel cell (and thus the pressure begins!)
- 2 Fuel Cells are dispensed by the central Fuel Emitter immediately upon match start with each additional Fuel Cell dispensed every 8s up to a maximum of 25 Fuel Cells in play (if matches last that long!)
- Fuel Frenzy game mode and maps contain NO POWERUPS (Invisibility and Double Damage are currently disabled)
- Spawning is now team side specific! Your team will only ever spawn on your side of the map and never too close to the Fuel Emitter
FUEL FRENZY GAME MODE EFFECTS:
- All-new Sound FX including "Fuel Frenzy!" game mode animation card, fuel cell dispensed, fuel cell picked up, and Red/Blue team countdown started—remember these sounds as they're all important indicators of match status and could mean the difference in a last minute victory!
- Keep an eye out on the Fuel Frenzy game mode specific scoreboard and keep track of your team's collected Fuel Cells! Once a team collects 10 (uncontested) Fuel Cells, your team's fuel bar blinks and the countdown begins!
- Any Pilot carrying a Fuel Cell gains a glowing overhead Fuel Cell icon indicating the number of held Fuel Cells—aim for high value targets!
FUEL FRENZY HINTS:
- The central Fuel Emitter glows brighter green the closer it gets to spawning another fuel cell. Timing is everything... even if you have to camp the only fuel cell you need
- Try a number of different weapons (and vantage points to shoot them from) in Fuel Frenzy... you'll be surprised at the newly effective combinations of Primary, Secondary, and Ultimates
- Be careful in timing your Ultimates! Try sending non-fuel cell holding teammates on an offensive Sentry drop to keep enemies away
- If you happen to blast away an enemy pilot carrying fuel cells away with a Havoc, their death ragdoll (or gibs?) is often an indicator of where their fuel cells will fall after the carnage
- It's not always necessary to go after the enemy Pilot with the most fuel cells as long as they haven't started countdown
- Body block like a true MVP and save a pilot's life
SBM Commentary: Welcome to Fuel Frenzy! It's been nothing less than an incredible time building this new game mode for all of you and is a culmination of our efforts tuning the game across ALL areas (revamped weapon physics, gameplay VMAX, controls, netcode... you name it). Once you step into a Fuel Frenzy arena, you'll know exactly why Update 1.5 "NEW FOUNDATIONS" was necessary to achieve better balance across Pilot movement and weapon types'cap'--high-speed, objective-based, game modes like FF are just the start!
HUD UPDATES:
- - In-game global notifications have been moved to a newer, cleaner Kill Feed (Powerup Pick-up, Kill Streak)
- New Kill Streak icon! Your kill streaks appear to the left of your Ultimate meter and scale in incremenets of x2, x5, and x10
- 'Active Bounty' icon and countdown appears to the left of your Ultimate meter
AUDIO & VISUAL FX:
- - In addition to all-new Fuel Frenzy effects...
- - Game modes now have new intro voice overs and animations: "Deathmatch" (previously Team Deathmatch) and "Fuel Frenzy"
- - Killing enemies with Wildfyre or Incendiary Grenades now include fire disintegration effects on death ragdoll
- - All-new jump pad VFX (Purple base with highlights and arrow indicators)
- - Smoother weapon guidelines (less jagged) for all curved or thrown projectiles
- - Spectator Audio has been re-tuned on all maps and zoom levels with the addition of Fuel Frenzy
- - Spectator VFX now match team colors (including projectile trails, Sentries and Drones)
SBM Commentary: Fuel Frenzy was just too cool not to revamp our existing animations so we've created completely new game mode animations that make VERY CLEAR what game mode you're about to step foot in. On top of that, a very subtle (maybe not so subtle?) flame-death disintegration animation highlights that deaths in the future can be specific for certain weapons ;). Lastly, we've watched and supported MANY of our community tournaments and there are many improvements to do for spectator mode to make the viewing experience better but for now we're tuning spec-audio again and have finally 'sided' the deployable sentries and drones. We're still looking VERY closely at what commentators and spectators have given us feedback on, so don't worry... much more to come here too!
QUALITY OF LIFE:
- Socket Disconnect/Reconnect V1 is now available for Pilots that switch between Wi-Fi and Cellular OR drop due to a connectivity speedbump for up to 20s (same platform only... for now).
- Failure to vote during intermission lobbies in Public queue matches automatically default to the last played Game Mode (and the first map on the top of the list)
- 'Fixed' controls are truly, really, fixed!
GAMEPLAY:
- THUNDERSTORM's true range now matches it's VFX—our apologies to the Zeus' of the skies!
- Fuel Frenzy game mode does NOT spawn any Double Damage or Invisibility Power Ups!
OVERALL IMPROVEMENTS:
- More netcode tweaks and improvements to lag compensation and hit markers being even more 'confirmed'
WHAT'S IN THE FUTURE:
- '3D' Maps, Improved Map Geometry, and more "Pixelwalking" fixes
- Player Camera Improvements
- Party Systems, Clan Improvements, Matchmaking V2, Progression V2, Economy V3 and much, much more!
- We're keeping an eye on: iPad Controls and various 4:3 aspect ratio related bugs, Customizable HUD,
- gear.armajet.com—get your own personalized Armajet gear now + female tees are in!
- Join our official Discord community for even more info, official dev stream times, and upcoming features!
SBM Commentary: Building Fuel Frenzy had to be the LOUDEST in-office experience in 'playtesting' together we've ever had at Super Bit Machine (can you imagine?) Take a close look at what's ahead and what can only improve the game mode playlist experience in the future. Update 1.7 will be huge and we'll do our best to drop hints along the way!
Enjoy Fuel Frenzy, Pilots!
