We've decided to scrap the troublesome save system and create a new one from scratch, in order to be able to keep our release date. The new savegame system will be based on somewhat different principles and save only the data that's really needed (whereas the previous one would save just about everything).
The upside is that the new save/load system will be really fast, while the main downside is that we need to put in some serious work hours to have it all done in time for release.
