Hello all!
With Tower Defense Fest 2026 starting soon I have been diligently working on the next update (1.7.003 alpha / 1.7 proper). Unfortunately, it looks like I will not complete it in time.
I am aiming to have it out as soon as possible but it is unclear if that will be today, tomorrow, or later in the week. There are significant changes to the save system and want to minimize pain when it rolls out which is taking time.
Check out the details below - thanks for reading!
Save File Changes
In order to better support cloud saves and saves between the demo and full game the save files needed to move locations. In 1.7 saves were being saved to the install directory under a folder named "savesDir" but the new location is platform dependent. If you want to attempt to preserve your saves move them as follows:
Windows:
%USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Zebec Games/Geometry Defense/Saves/{64BitSteamID}
macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/unity.ZebecGames.GeometryDefense/Saves/{64BitSteamID}
Linux:
~/.config/unity3d/Zebec Games/Geometry Defense/Saves/{64BitSteamID}
In order to address issues with achievement progress, enhanced stat system, and in progress saves - the structure of the save files have change significantly. It is generally recommended to start a fresh save. Your save should still work to an extent but some data loss is expected.
These changes will not appear until Hotfix 1.7.003 so do not make these changes yet.
Steam Demo
Delayed until 1.7 is ready for release (to alpha at least).
Critical bugs discovered and need ensure things are working as intended.
Roadmap Update
Need to push out Campaign revamp - taking too much time to create assets needed for story elements.
Alpha 3 aimed for release as soon as possible (today or tomorrow likely).
Alpha 4 will likely be focused on critical fixes.
Every update will include various bug fixes and tweaks as well but these are the high level goals.
