Here at PLAYWITH, we’re very pleased with the initial reaction to the publication of our Coming Soon page on Steam. Wow!
With that said, it has also sparked some concerns from users and people that have come across the announcement of the game. We would like to get out in front of the subject, and address some of these initial concerns head on.
Concern 1: This game seems to be a remake of ELOA. Why should we expect anything different from a game that has shut down?
Answer 1: For a variety of reasons, we here at PLAYWITH believe that ELOA never got off on the right foot, and was unable to reach its full potential. We do not wish to ignore that fact. It was previously developed and published by another company and we feel as though it was never serviced properly. The previous iterations were lacking in their ability to properly provide localized service and there was a clear disconnect between the user’s feelings towards the game and how it was presented. ELOA’s user base had their qualms about the game, but they were a dedicated bunch and believed ELOA could have been much more than it achieved. We believe that with the right approach, and the use of real user feedback, we can sustain the game that people have always wanted to play and bring new users to the game as well. Warlords Awakening is being remastered by PLAYWITH and serviced by our own publishing arm and network. This way, the servicing of the game should operate more smoothly and we can better communicate ideas directly to our developers. We intend to be flexible and responsive moving forward with the publication of Warlords Awakening on STEAM.
Having said that, the game is Warlords Awakening, and we hope that people can attach their sense of wonder and enjoyment to that title.
Concern 2: Is this another cash-grab or pay 2 win title?
Answer 2: In the wake of events with other titles and a growing sentiment about certain games on Steam, we would like to first and foremost state, that is not our objective. With the publication of Warlords Awakening, we hope to grow our user base and learn how to fulfill the needs and wants of Western users, so that not only Warlords Awakening will succeed, but that we can grow confidence in PLAYWITH from our users for future titles. We believe this is just the first step of many for PLAYWITH in bringing fantastic gaming experiences to the world.
Concern 3: You’ve stated there’s already a large amount of content already prepared and will release in Early Access without it. Have you just stripped content simply to re-add it later?
Answer 3: As with any company, not simply gaming companies, there are always ideas or content that is backlogged and not presented at first. We have ideas and content that we feel should not be presented currently. The game is in a playable state, but there are some kinks we would like to sort out before releasing it to the public. Content or lack thereof was not a serious problem in previous iterations of the game, simply that the content was not handled nor presented in a way that was appealing to players. That is our approach here at PLAYWITH; that if we’re going to present something to users, we ought to try our best to get it right the first time. Thus, Early Access give users access to early content, allows them to respond, and allows us to make changes based on that response. It is much easier for us to address general problems in early content and apply these notions to future content, so that when it is released, users are satisfied the first time. The more information and feedback we receive from this Early Access period, the better we can make Warlords Awakening; and of course this ideal will extend beyond Early Access and into the Full Release. This idea holds true for how we approach games here at PLAYWITH.
We hope that this notice should address some of the initial thoughts about Warlords Awakening and can show that we here at PLAYWITH take this feedback very seriously.
In the near future we hope to hold a Q&A session and provide more information about the game. Until then, we ask that users be patient and generate some communication between each other.
