Lords and Knights: Though the northern winds bite to the bone, the slaughter between the Red and White Roses has reached a fever pitch. Alnwick Castle is no school for wizards; it is a grinder of steel built to bury the reckless. The High Council has compiled historical archives and a siege speed-run guide to help you establish dominance in these chaotic times.
I. Historical Archives of Alnwick Castle: A Steel Fortress Born for War
The High Council presents the historical reality of Alnwick Castle:
Origins of War: The Norman Conquest and First Defenses
Strategic Deployment in 1096: A Norman nobleman constructed the initial parts of the castle around 1096. Its core mission was to control the ancient crossing of the River Aln and repel Scottish invasions from the north.
The Rise of the Percys: In 1309, Henry Percy officially took control of Alnwick, beginning a seven-century reign for the Percy family. He is the castle's most famous spirit. Known as "Hotspur," this lord was renowned for his rapid assaults and fiery temper—even Shakespeare marveled at his military genius.
14th Century Reinforcements: Facing Scottish raids, the Lord spared no expense to convert wooden structures into solid sandstone, establishing the survival rule of "defense over comfort."
The Wars of the Roses: Bloody Glory and Scars on the Wall
In the 15th century, Alnwick Castle became a pivotal landmark in the history of the English Civil War.
Changing Hands: The House of Lancaster and the House of York seized and lost Alnwick Castle multiple times. In this most brutal power struggle in English history, the castle walls still bear the marks of arrows and cannonballs.
Winter believes in no tears: This castle chronicles the changing of power; only those with iron wills survive this baptism of blood.
II. Alnwick Castle Tactical Guide
Breaching Point A: The Surgical Flank
The Barbican at Alnwick Castle is a death trap prepared for fools who only know war on paper; the defenders' blades wait there in readiness.
Combat Taboo: Do not charge frontally with your troops.
Tactical Key: Mass artillery to bombard and collapse the dilapidated wall section on the flank.
Core Objective: Bypass the Barbican death zone, thrust directly into the residential area, and rapidly capture Point A.
Contesting Point B: Choking the Supply Line
In the battle for the Point B walls, survival depends on the supply line behind the wall, not the wall itself.
Attacker's Edge: Use siege towers to deliver elite troops while sending a surprise force to strike the defenders' rear supply point.
Defender's Vital Point: You must guard the supply passage connecting to Point B as you would your own heart.
Battlefield Consequence: Once the supply point is lost, the entire defense line will be paralyzed by "blood loss."
The Courtyard Gambit: Spatial Tactics at Point C
The courtyard beyond the gate is open and dangerous—a zone that tests a commander's decisiveness.
Defender's Experience: The strategic value of Point C lies in wearing down the opponent, not fighting to the death.
Tactical Execution: Practice orderly retreats, trading every inch of ground for time to fall back to the inner keep.
Attacker's Tactics: Flood the area like a rising tide and maintain rapid pressure on the inner keep.
The Final Showdown: The Times Have Changed!
When the war enters its final phase, only the roar of steel can pierce the winter cold. Do not fixate solely on the base gate; go and capture the critical [Outpost].
Trigger Support: Upon capturing the outpost, the High Council will deploy off-map heavy artillery for you.
Overwhelming Strike: The artillery will directly bombard and collapse the front wall of the base.
Checkmate: The moment the wall crumbles is the moment to launch the general assault.
Conclusion:
The Wars of the Roses are poised to erupt, and ancient Alnwick Castle awaits its new master. May your blade be invincible, and may your house's banner fly high atop the peaks of the North!
