Hi, friends!
Only a few days left to Early Access launch and we are excited to hear your thoughts. To make it easier to wait, we would like to introduce you to the game world’s history and a plot.
THE SITUATION ON THE EARTH
The expedition which the game character takes part in was sent out by the International Scientific Association (ISA) in 2301. The Association had gained great significance in the United Government after the second resource crisis of the 2260s, and by the beginning of the 24th century the Chairman of the Association had the casting vote in the Council of the Government.
A series of energy crises caused a critical need for new resource types. The ISA suggested using the Artificial Intelligence to distribute and control the existing and extracted resources; but the project was never completed. Malicious tongues say that it was only a smoke screen for the ISA to take over the reins of economic control and distribution.
The narrowing neck of the crisis is forcing more and more people into a lifestyle which is similar to subsistence farming, all the “high” technologies become unavailable for the vast majority of Earthians. The ideals of equal opportunities and comfort for everybody have given way to forced ascetics and austerity.
The ISA has been developing a program for expansion into space since the 2240s. A well-known project of theirs became two extra-long-distance expeditions which were the first to discover cyrium, a gas hydrate that served as a promising energy source. Based on the obtained data, the expedition to WASP-21 was organized.
The United Government controls the main informational flows and is the most influential institution of the Earth, extending its influence over 75% of the planet's population.
THE TELEPORTATION TECHNOLOGY
Teleportation began to develop actively in the 2180s, and in the beginning of the new century the technology was already applied at some high-tech production sites.Transfer of living matter became a problem. It is possible over short distances, but when attempted over long ones the animals did not come out of the teleports, they disappeared.
During a new cycle of the resource crisis that entailed riots in border provinces and cities, the ISA presented a program of Earthians’ resettlement to another planet with the aid of teleportation. For this purpose, an expedition was sent out to the system where cyrium reserves had been discovered; among other things, it had to create the receiving teleport.
Another secret of teleportation is that its development was based on alien technologies found by the first extra-long-distance expedition in that system.
THE EXPEDITION
The expedition started from the Earth in 2301 and reached its target, the Wasp-21 “Ariadne” system, in two years. The fleet consists of 3 main expeditionary cruisers (each carrying several transports and 3 combat spacecraft units), 3 corvettes, and the commander’s ship. The expedition is 4,200 strong.
THE WASP-21 “ARIADNE” STAR AND ITS SYSTEM
The Wasp-21 star was discovered in 2037 in the Vela constellation. It belongs to the class of yellow-white stars, and exceeds the Sun’s weight by 1.2 times. Its system includes 5 planets discovered in the 2060s-2080s. In 2289 and 2295 the system was visited by two automated missions sent out by the ISA, which collected information about cyrium. The second expedition had a recoverable module that brought specimens of the Ancients’ technology to the Earth, which is kept secret. It was named Ariadne in 2289, after receiving the data from the first automated mission, when the colonization project first appeared.
That's all for now, but this is only a beginning - mysterious ancient race, Wasp-21 system inhabitants, squad and its equipment description and much more is ahead.
