Ho ho hoooooooooooOOO! Long time no SLEIGH.
It's been just over a year since we released Long Live Santa!, an experimental game we built in just under a month to see if we could learn enough multiplayer game development to feel confident adding multiplayer to our main, paid game: Clone Drone in the Danger Zone.
As it turned out -- we could! So last year we went to work adding multiplayer to Clone Drone. We converted the whole game over to support multiplayer, and even added dedicated server support. We began by adding 1v1 duels, then built a 15 player fast-battle-royale-style massacre called Last Bot Standing. We even made it so you could use the game's built-in level editor to add MULTIPLAYER LEVELS TO THE STEAM WORKSHOP, and began hosting level creation community events.

The most recent level event was METAL CHRISTMAS, and resulted in some seasonal multiplayer Christmas levels being added to Clone Drone (some with some major Long Live Santa! vibes):
Tomorrow, let's play Long Live Santa!
I've loved hearing from a handful of you Long Live Santa! players this year that you remember the game fondly and even went so far as wishing for new content or features to be added to the LLS game. We definitely considered adding something this December (and would have loved to), but unfortunately this year because we're such a small team we didn't have the manpower to split off from Clone Drone to make changes. Who knew -- developing a single- AND multi- player game takes your full attention! :) Maybe once we're further along in Early Access and/or have fully released Clone Drone we can do something to revisit LLS!
THAT SAID! How about this --
Tomorrow (January 1st), in the spirit of the holiday season: let's all dust off our copies of Long Live Santa! and relive the former Santa-natural-selection glory.
Bring a friend. Grow a beard. Saddle up your reindeer. See you in the Norwegian wilderness!
Follow along with our work: Clone Drone 34% off for the Winter Sale
If you'd like to continue following our Early Access development on Clone Drone in the Danger Zone, the game is 34% off for the next few days as part of the Steam Winter Sale. It's a great time to enter the arena.
See you in the snow, or in the robo-space-arena, or otherwise with whatever wacky game experiment we might do in the future! Thanks everyone for making Long Live Santa! such a fun experiment for us last year. <3
