Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR has been updated to version 1.0.295. Key changes include:
- Improved performance of automatic motion reprojection by enabling running start.
- Experimental motion reprojection now works with AMD graphics cards. Please try it and send us your feedback. Extreme visual artifacts can occur if the application is unable to maintain half framerate. If that occurs, you can try lowering super-sampling settings in Steam to get a good result.
- Added a configuration file setting to disable haptic feedback. To use it, set the following under the “driver_Holographic” section: “hapticsDisabled” : true
- Fixed an issue where the right controller appears after the left controller
- Fixed a potential race condition that could lead to crashes when using motion reprojection.
- Fixed a crash for AMD users who enable motion reprojection on a GPU that does not have hardware support for it. In this case, it will gracefully fall back to not using motion reprojection.
- Added an experimental option to improve motion reprojection quality by using temporal motion vector data.
- Fixed an issue where the head pose was reported as the left eye. In certain games that used this pose directly, it could result in a slightly offset rendering. We now report the head pose as a spot between both eyes.
- Set the IPD property dynamically as it changes instead of once on startup.
This update also includes changes that only light-up if you are running a recent Windows 10 Insider Preview Build (build 17672 or newer):
- SteamVR apps now appear in the Windows Mixed Reality All Apps list so you can launch them directly from the Cliff House.
- The SteamVR dashboard is now accessible from the Quick Actions menu.
- SteamVR no longer uses a fixed value for running start since the OS now handles this dynamically. Running start is a rendering technique that allows apps to start working on the next frame before the previous frame is complete. The offset will now be adjusted dynamically as needed instead of being set to a fixed amount.
- Shortcuts in the desktop start menu now have icons.
- The list of apps in the All Apps list will now be updated when you start Steam and when you start SteamVR. If you install a new app, it will not appear in the list until you take one of those two actions.
