The Paper Shakespeare series going forward
Obviously, Paper Shakespeare isn't a term that is regulated to ONE version of Shakespeare. Half the fun of adapting Shakespeare's works is ADAPTING THEM.
So, not every game in the Paper Shakespeare series will stay in the same area of the world, or even the same world, as this game's Arden.
Some might be point-and-clicks, others might be isometric RPGs. There might even be a King Lear Kart Racer.
There probably won't be a Kart Racer for at least a proper while.
But the plan for the PAPER SHAKESPEARE series is to eventually do every single Shakespeare play.
Yes, all 37.
We know about the "other ones", purists. Don't get us started.
To Date Or Not To Date? is sort of an anomaly, as it is the first Paper Shakespeare game, and yet, it isn't based on any of the plays.
But we do know what the first three are, and they are (possibly) coming this year:
- Merchant of Venice
- Love's Labor Lost
- The Tempest
All three of these will display different styles of art and gameplay. Even though both Love's Labor and The Tempest are Shakespeare Dating Sims (you'll understand how they both are different when we announce them after summer).
Merchant is going to be our most experimental game yet, and our closest to a pure Visual Novel. Think Joe Papp style gameplay with a twist. We'll be announcing that possibly this or next week.
Stayed tuned.
